The industrial revolution took place in the 18th century and carried into the 19th century. During these times, more and more machines were introduced to replace labor by hand. Daily life was improved for thousands of people across the country. But along with these new machines came many negatives, as well as positives. In the following paragraphs, these examples will be listed. In document 5 it states the growth of cities due to the revolution. More and more factories were being made across the country, which is both a positive and a negative. Dozens of new cities were built, thousands of people were supplied with the opportunity to get a job, earn money and acquire new skills that they might have once not had. Along with this came many downfalls. As more and more cities were created, areas became overcrowded due to people wanting jobs and moving into the city where living was cheap and affordable living. In document 2, Leon Faucher was brought up. He employed thousands of …show more content…
The overall change in economy due to the Industrial revolution was drastically transformed into something new. In document 3, it shows the difference in steel production over the years. In a 45 year span, the steel production nearly tripled. Due to Henry Bessemer, the process of making steel was faster and more affordable. This gave more people jobs and started a mass production of steel since it was cheaper to make. The downfall to that is the huge increase in child labor. In document 4, it expresses the dangers of child labor. They had little hands that could easily fix broken machines. They had a very dangerous and fatal job to do. Many children were killed during their shift. While fixing machines they even had to go to the extreme of climbing inside and repairing whatever needed to be fixed. Many times during this act, the machine would malfunction or turn back on and crush the child inside. Children who started working at the age of 5 generally died before the reached the age of
Although the industrial revolution had positive impacts such as helping the economy, it led many places to illiteracy, loss of life, and an increase in crime rate. There were many great effects of the Industrial Revolution, which helped Great Britain's economy grow more efficiently. Firstly, Great Britain was the first country to industrialize, meaning they had cheaper goods which other countries at the time were in need of leading Great Britain to mass trading. Secondly, when they made factories, they required people to work in these factories, leading to growth in the employment rate. Lastly, document 4 states that industrialization made “not only travel at less expense but travels ten times quicker than two hundred years ago”.
In the 18th century began a great movement called the Industrial Revolution. While the Industrial Revolution was a great turning point in the history of mankind, it had both positive and negative effects. The Industrial Revolution led our civilization to great technological advancements as well as great losses. During the Industrial Revolutions, many inventions were made.
The mid 1800s began what is now known as the Industrial Revolution. Business and cities boomed with life as thins seemed to be improving in life. But were they really changing for the better? The bright side of the Industrialization is shown, yet the dark side isn't. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of urbanization, it was actually a negative thing for society.
The industrial revolution was both positive and negative for our country. Despite the fact that there were many good things that came out of about the revolution there was many more negatives for the people at the time. A few of these consequences included low and unequal pay, child labor, no job guarantee, and poor living conditions. These situations made it obvious to the government that something needed change, but it took a while for them realize it resulting in injuries and even death. Although it did take awhile for them to realize what they needed do to prevent this, eventually they did figure out laws to help stabilize and grow in in a healthy way.
The Industrial Revolution refers to a time of greatly increased output of machine-made goods that emerged within the textile industry. The Industrial Revolution, which began in England in the late 1700’s, had a wide range of positive and negative effects on the economic and social life of the people of England. The results of the Industrial Revolution have been interpreted many ways through the various social classes of Britain; the peasants who suffered from the dangers of the factories and tenements and the upper class who benefited from capital and enterprises. Although the Industrial Revolution positively affected Britain’s iron production and added conveniences and comforts to daily life for the upper class, the dangers of the factories’
This example confirms that with more factories being made and more people getting jobs, than the more money that factory’s industry is making, which results in the US economy growing. Another positive that came from the industrial revolution are worker unions. Worker unions are groups of people who try to create better wages and safer work conditions. These unions would go on strikes to get what they were fighting for. During these strikes, there was less pollution being admitted into the Earth, since there was no work going on in the factories.
The Industrial Revolution was overall a negative thing because if forced childhood labor, caused the environment to fail, and it brought many negative effects onto the people. The Industrial Revolution brought a big change upon the society, one example is childhood labor. Children were forced to work and were often severely injured because of the factory work they were assigned to do. In Document 10 it speaks about how severe these injures can get.
While some may argue that the Industrial Revolution had a primarily positive effect on society because of the job increase and large advancements in technology, it actually had more of a negative effect. Some of the negative effects of industrialization
The Industrial Revolution shaped the growing economy at the time in many positive and negative aspects. The Industrial Revolution took place during the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s and was considered to be the “New Industrial.” Many things were brought to the economy at the time due to this occurring; some in which being machinery, technology, production of goods, and even performance. The economy was not the only thing greatly affected by this revolution but the farmers, the working-class, and the middle-class were also affected to a deep extent.
Industrialization itself brought along many things both positive and negative, some of which are still affecting us as a society today. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of the harm it did to people of that time, it was actually a positive thing for society. Industrialization’s positive effects were economic prosperity, Efficient, serviceable inventions, and more, and better jobs.
Working conditions for children were frequently hazardous and unsanitary. As seen in document 2, the working conditions for these children in the factories were deplorable. They were filthy, dusty, and cramped, making them an unsuitable environment for children to spend so much time in every day. When forced to work in these factories, children faced numerous health issues, and some even died. Child labor began to decline as the labor and reform movements grew and labor standards in general improved, giving working people and other social reformers more political clout to demand legislation regulating child labor.
Many had to work in unsafe conditions in which one can easily lose their life. For example, according to Robert owen ( 1771-1858) “ Working condition were difficult and dangerous. Small children worked alongside their parents in the factory.” These dangerous conditions brought social inequality as the working class were treated as if their lives do not matter. Since the workers could be easily replaced, the owners did not care about the quality of the working conditions.
Effects of the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was an important event in history. It brought about many positives during its time. For instance, kids were well fed, educated, and clothed. There were plenty of negatives, as well. One very sad example was the machine injuries that happened to both children and adults.
Many children began working before the age of 7, tending machines in spinning mills or hauling heavy loads. The factories were often damp, dark, and dirty. Some children worked underground,
Something that was good about the industrial revolution was that there was more workers and people could get payed more. Things that were bad was that little kids could. That’s bad because kid get hurt for example, for kids who worked on farms would ride on horse rakes and easily fall off and get crushed. Kids would get overworked after working 12 hours a day.
