CROWDSOURCING Refers to an article in the Convergence the international journal of research into new media technologies by Daren C.Brabham, Crowdsourcing as a Model for Problem Solving; crowdsourcing is the act of a company or institution taking a function once performed by employees and outsourcing it to an undefined (and generally large) network of people in the form of an open call. This can take the form of peer-production (when the job is performed collaboratively), but is also often undertaken by sole individuals. The crucial prerequisite is the use of the open call format and the large network of potential laborers (Brabham, 2008). Simply says that crowdsourcing is the process acquiring needed services, ideas, or content by requesting …show more content…
When it is viewed in the context of critical, participation of Geographic Information System (GIS), questions about the nature of participation, power relations and other societal aspects of VGI are opened- hence, the process of creating VGI is important as analyzing product (Haklay, …show more content…
Web -based applications often run in a Web browser. However, web -based applications are also may be client-based, in which parts of the program is downloaded to the user's desktop, but the processing is done through the Internet on an external server. Web -based applications are also known as Web applications (Janssen, 2010). For example, most of beginners are not familiar with installation of GIS software. In addition, the critical constraints for installing software might be occurred to operation environment such as operating system, had by the system administrator. To solve this problem, we chose to develop a web -based GIS (Web-GIS), which can be operated only with the internet web browser. Recently, web -based applications have become popular among Internet users such as application by Google. They are developed by JavaScript, which is usually done on internet web browser. Therefore, web -based applications is less dependent on the operating environment and can be a good solution for crowd-sourcing
Outsourcing of solution project- Solution to project given to another individual/ company to find best approach. 2. Use of existing resources hardware/ software- Ability to use existing hardware/ software infrastructure in order to reduce cost and time of possible solution.
Microsoft provides a number of these including for Active Server Page and ASP.NET. Compatibility: Internet Information Services is designed to run on Windows server operating systems. A restricted version that supports one website and a limited number of connections is also supplied with Windows XP Professional. Microsoft has likewise changed the server account that IIS keeps running on.
Providing an easy way for end-user to access the resources is very important. To achieve this we can use the Remote Desktop Web Access. The RD Web Access allows the users to access the RemoteApp and Remote Desktop from a browser or from the start menu of Windows
Assignment 1 What is Web Server Scripting? Explain the principles of web server scripting: Web server scripting is simply where a script is executed on the web server before a webpage is sent to the user. This means that the files that the user can customised rather the layout or information shown on the webpage once they load it up, an example of this would be, on Facebook once you login you will get a news feed, which is for you alone and no one else. This makes webpages dynamic; they can change depending on circumstances of the user instead of being a simple static page which can’t change rather the layout, information and so forth.
3. Research Question and Objectives Our main objective is to design a web-based visual interactive software that can provide us a graphical interface for computer programming. Where basic general purpose programming facilities will be available like creation of modules, arrays and object orientation. Where we can achieve multitasking using threads and exception handling to catch exceptions.
Using coordinates or simple objectives allows the ability to make proper determination. Geographic data allows identifiable information to be offered to subscribers with the encouragement of geographical indicators. Display tools offer a realism of visual effects and the most applicable advantages. Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, spatial statics and Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Systems of these nature offer geographers collaborative and analyzed information far more unique than traditional research techniques (Geographic Information Systems as an Integrating Technology: Context, Concepts, and Definitions,2015). Lastly, geographic reality and space relation must be gathered using input and output of data and formulaic sequences, but the tools make them applicable to user.
What has become challenging to me on the last couple weeks is making sure that all the installations and files are transfer or placed in the proper server directory. Sometimes the instructions can be a little confusing especially when you only use commands lines to perform every task. 5) What skills and knowledge do I recognize that I am gaining? The more I learn about web programming the more I pay attention to details so now I know exactly what they mean when they say details really matter in
The structures such as cabinet committees, treasury board are influencing the decision making of GIS programs on all aspects, they are helping to range the financial distribution, to obtain personal information, to calculate the bursary that seniors are entitled, to review files and to revise the past information and to promote and manipulate the program for further engagement, therefore become the core of the whole running system of the GIS
1. List the 7 “Civil Rights” afforded to all children under Public Law 94-142 • Right to an Education • Right to a Free Education • Right to an Appropriate Education • Right to a Least Restrictive Environment •
Racial profiling has become a national issue starting in 2015 (“Racial”). Judging someone for their race has been a problem ever since a minority group has been noticed. Racial profiling has spread over all over the world. Racial profiling has been a problem through the years, if the human race can learn what racial profiling is, advantages of the profiling, and the disadvantages.
Web: Dropbox: Dropbox is a web based service created to help aid digital distribution of files and documents with peers and accessibility from a wide variety of locations. online learning: Online learning is used in huge amounts throughout the internet for a wide veriety of subjects which all aid in the distribution of information to anyone with access to their web based services. Google search engine: The Google search engine in an online based service that revolutionized the finding of information on the world wide web. Over the last few decades it has changed significantly, but still the basic purpose still exists to help the internet have better access to information.
Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S.A. and become citizens because they are heavy workers, want a better life and most importantly they contribute to the U.S. economy. Immigrants simply want to obtain an opportunity to live and work in this great country. With all this in mind it is clear that they deserve a path to citizenship. Countless people say illegal immigrants are damaging the U.S. economy; however, they are contributing immensely by paying their taxes.
1. Define the following terms: GIS; A geographic information system is system made to capture, store, manipulate, analyse, manage, and present spatial or geographical data. FOSS; Free or Open Source Software. FOSS programs have licenses that allow users to freely run the program for any purpose, modify the program as they want, and also to freely distribute copies of either the original version or their own modified version. ILWIS; Integrated Land and Water Information System is a GIS / Remote sensing software for both vector and raster processing.
“Citizen Journalism” has been hailed by many as a ‘new’ form of Journalism that will overtake ‘traditional’ forms of Journalism. Do you agree? Discuss the pros and cons of such an argument. Citizen Journalism is an argumentative concept by its very nature and one which is particularly hard to define. It involves non-professional, un-trained locals reporting on news themselves and using social media as a platform to do so, in a basic sense.
What is Web Design? A Web site is the final output of a Web design. The Web site sits on a Web server where electronic files are stored. The Web site presents the contents and interactive features or interfaces to the end user in the form of Web pages.
