On October 24, 2015 I traveled to Ronald Reagan High School to see the Reagan Fall One Acts with my dad. The Reagan Fall One Acts were composed of two marvelously written and directed major plays called, Not an Instant directed by, Kris Puddicombe; written by Anne Liners, War of the Nerds directed by, Nic Onorato; written by Gonzalo Nieto, and three short performances called, Hiraeth, It’s Not a Joke, and In and Out all performed by very talented IB theatre students. There were various aspects of the plays that I found particularly interesting such as, the acting, the lighting, and the costumes. The actors immensely entertained me, there were a few improvements they could have made, but overall, they did a marvelous job and I would definitely …show more content…
Each actor was worthy of commendation, but the ones that really stood out for me were Kyle Radomski (Frederick) from Not an Instant, they ensemble from Not an Instant, Lauren Beal (Hobbit) from War of the Nerds, Jesse Lago from Hiraeth, and Gonzalo Nieto from It’s Not a Joke. The reason why I enjoyed Kyle Radomski ’s (Frederick's) acting is because his tone of voice really complimented his character, he had a very suave voice and it made his character genuine. The ensemble in Not an Instant did a really good job at being discreet onstage and doing cartwheels and spins, they added a special touch to the theme of the play. I was also very impressed with Lauren Beal (Hobbit), because she was a very unique, sassy, and comedic character, she portrayed her character very well. Jesse Lago was part of a mini play called Hiraeth, his character stood out to me because he had to do a number of dance moves and I know that I’d be very nervous to do that so I was pretty amazed at seeing him and his partner do dance moves, they did an amazing job telling a story without any real use of dialogue. Gonzalo Nieto was definitely was one of my favorites, he was in another mini play called, It’s Not a Joke and he played the other half of a character that had a split personality, he did a very spontaneous job and I really enjoyed seeing his radiant personality on stage. The entire cast was …show more content…
The costumes that fascinated me the most were the ones used in War of the Nerds and In and Out. I found the costumes in War of the Nerds to be innovative and comical especially the lightsabers, wookiee, dwarf, and hobbit costumes, they added a lighthearted touch to the play. The costumes and lighting in the play, In and Out appended to the overall theme of the play, the schoolgirl costume made the audience acquire knowledge of who the actress was trying to be and the red lighting gave the audience a chilling feel. Mr. Onorato, Mr. Murphy, and anyone else that helped develop these plays did an extraordinary
I would like for you to help get the word to principals and encourage support. Our auditorium holds approx 580 people. Maxine McCall, the author of They Won 't Hang a Woman, has agreed to read an excerpt from her book to introduce the play. She has also agreed to meet the students at the Burke County Museum to show them the Frankie Silver Room, which is based on her

The switching of roles is as quick as the blink of an eye especially the scenes with the traveling salesman, conductor and Hannay. They also use vocal sounds to reenact trains noises and other objects that aren't visual props but still make you feel as if they're there. The actors themselves being human props is a great thing that makes the play work. The funny accents especially of Hannay are quite comical. When Annabella simulates sex with the male actor with her having a knife wound in her back was hilarious as hell I actually cried
The art of incorporating several elements of drama including: social status and stereotypes in a performance to enhance the effectiveness and relevance, can be traced back to the performance style commedia. Sixteenth century traveling performers in Italy were renowned for their unique performance style and structure that utilised physical theatre, costumes, improvisation, audience interaction and stock characters reflecting levels of social hierarchy. Elements of commedia are evident in modern drama, draw upon commonly to provide effective comic relief. These … were explored further in the Homunculus theatre company’s performance, “The Spirit of the Mask”.
Act 1 opens on in bedroom in Reverend Samuel Parris’ house in the spring of 1692. Parris’ daughter, 10-year-old Betty, is in a deep sleep resulting from an unknown illness, and Parris is kneeling next to her bed, praying. Tituba, the middle-aged slave from Barbados; tries to check on Betty, but Reverend Parris immediately kicks her out of the room. Soon after, Abigail Williams ,Parris’ 17-year-old niece, enters the room. She informs him that Susanna Walcott, another teenager, has come with a message from the doctor.
The cast of Hamilton has done an exceptional job performing and has become part of our
The Addams’s family musical was a delightful play full of delightful humor, tense scenes, and heartfelt moments. The play opened late this spring with twenty-two college students from the Florida School of the Arts, a public art college in Palatka. The cast was led by Willie Beaton II as Gomez Addams, Bella Carlsen as Morticia Adams, Caitlin Sweeney as Wednesday Adams, and Briar Boggs as Lucas Benieke. The cast of acting students was, as a whole, quite good, performing A+ material. However, at some points of the show, it becomes clear that the students have some years left to learn.
Costumes are something that truly influences the overall outcome of a show. It helps show what is going on at the time the show is taking place. In Evita, the costumes helped show how much money Eva really had, and was getting from her charity. This really gave you an understanding of what she was really doing her charity
The theme in this play that our adaptation would be focusing is on Hysteria and Demoralization. We will be adapting this to modern society’s issues of bullying specifically cyber bullying. The definition of cyber bullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. Today, Cyber bullying affects many teenagers because they are being harmed by others. In The Crucible, Abigail ends up ruining Proctor’s reputation as well as many other characters by accusing them of witchcraft.
The cast is pretty big. Did any of the cast members surprise you in any way? I was surprised by how nice and down to Earth all the actors were. They were all so much fun! Their chemistry was great and we had the best time
The Garcia/Godinez duo performance was just amazing and unique. The instruments they played were very different from other instruments we most of the times get to hear in our daily basis. Even though I belong to the Mexican culture, most of the instruments were new, and for some others I finally caught the names. I really appreciate the indigenous music; I feel the connection with my heritage as well as how interesting it is to see how my ancestors created such wonderful music made by such unique and creative music instruments. One of the new instruments I got to know during this music presentation was the Teponaztli, the musical bow.
During the play I noticed how well the cast performed, the mistakes made, lines forgotten, and the unique touches they added to the play. I believe the cast performed well throughout the play. As the cast performed there were obvious mistakes that were made during the musical. The first mistake happened in the third act. They were performing a dance and one of the dancers tripped over one of the props.
I saw my first live musical a few weeks ago. The play was Terminator: The Musical written by Breanna Bietz. The play is a musical parody that supports the original Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day movies. The main characters are lead on a thrilling pursuit during the 1980s and 90s due to the dilemmas of a post-apocalyptic battle opposing humanity and a time travel problem.
Most of the actors were already known from television programmes and one of them, Dionne Verwey, already had an award for his/her acting skills. The acting in general was sufficient, not good not bad. I have to admit the acting of Kenneth Herdigein ,who portrayed Iago, was the most captivating of them all. When he performed Iago’s inner monologues he would use a separate microphone instead of the portable one he had. The setting would also change, which made it more enchanting.
In addition to the performance, the costumes, designed by Alexis Doktor, were very provocative, but nicely connected with the scenery. The scenery was designed originally by Barry Sparks. Additionally, William Starett choreographed the rest of the performance. Given the opportunity to see Cleopatra
