Romeo and Juliet is a well-known play written by William Shakespeare. Even though it is famous for being a love story, Shakespeare demonstrates that rebellion is closely tied together either it through the characters: Juliet, Romeo and Tybalt. By defying their families, authority and society's expectations, they set in motion the events in this tragedy. Romeo’s rebellion against society's expectations and his own family, the Montagues, is because of his love. His love of Rosaline is his first demonstration of defiance. This goes against the family feud as Montagues and Capulets are supposed to hate each other. Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.”( II, ii, l. 34-36) She still pursues and has intentions to continue her relationship as she says "this bud of love, by summer’s ripening breath, may prove a beauteous flower when next we meet."( II, ii, l. 121-122) She even agrees to get married to Romeo the very next day. Juliet’s rebellious streak is yet again evident when she says she will not marry Paris. In the patriarchal society that she lives in, she is expected to obey her father's . When Juliet says that Paris "shall not make me there a joyful bride". (III, v, l. 117) Her father, enraged by disobdience, says "An you be mine, I’ll give you to my friend.An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets,For, by my soul, I’ll ne'er acknowledge thee...” (III, v, l. 193-196) By rebelling against her father, her mum immediately her. If he does not do it, she will abandon her own name due to her infatuation with him. Juliet does not care about her family and is willing to give them up for a man she met a few hours ago.
Blame The Capulet Parents Whether children want to admit it or not, the actions of their parents directly impacts them. In the ever so famous story of Romeo and Juliet, the actions of multiple characters and “the continuance of their parents’ rage” over an ancient grudge leads to the death of the two young lovers (1.Pro.10). Romeo and Juliet’s death has the biggest impact on their families. The death of the lovers ceases the hate amid the Capulets and the Montagues.
The underlying theme of the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare was the clash between the company pursuing their personal desires or deciding to conform to what is socially expected. The circumstances of this affray were on display when Romeo presented his plot of marrying Juliet to Friar Laurence. The consequences of Romeo deciding to pursue personal desire were also on display when displayed his disapproval to his punishment for extirpating Tybalt. These instances culminate Shakespeare's idea of that the pursuit of personal desire not always rewarding the aspirant. The asininity of carelessly pursuing your personal desires and not thinking about the ramifications was on display when Romeo presented his notion of espousing Juliet.
In lines 212-225, the Nurse advises Juliet to simply marry Paris rather than Romeo as she thinks that Romeo is more fickle and unsafe-to pursue after- than Paris. Act 4 Scene 1 1. Paris is visiting Friar Lawrence to talk about his wedding with Juliet. 2. Juliet threatens Friar Lawrence that she will commit suicide if the wedding to Paris cannot be avoided.
The heartfelt quote “Under love's heavy burden do I sink” (1.4. 22); shows the love Romeo possesses in his heart exclusive to Juliet, his lifelong love. As Juliet returns the same amount of love for him, they each take the phrase of dying for one another to a literal level. The most trustworthy being in this book would be Friar Lawrence who has given the trust of the two lovers Romeo and Juliet. A family altercation occurs between the Montague family and the Capulet family many times in the within a week. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare develops his characters through his own desire of secrecy.

Juliet get into an argument with her parents, whom she does not know well, about who she really loves and who she wants to marry. She gets into an extreme argument with her mother that Paris is definitely not a suitable husband as he has not even seeked her love at all. She insists on waiting her wedding out and that she will only marry Romeo, who her father hates. Then, she requests to not be thrown away, as her father scolds her with vicious threats. In both arguments, she manifest a stubborn tone as she is persistent in neglecting the thought of being with Paris and only being in the arms of Romeo despite her father’s vile words.
The Capulets told Juliet that if she didn’t marry him, she would be kicked out and they would dis-own her. The Capulet had said to his wife “I am furious, day and night minute by minute, now Paris wants to marry her but she says no”. (Act 3, Scene 5). Imagine someone being kicked out of their own house because they refused to marry the one of their father’s choosing. This is what happened to Juliet she was being forced to marry count Paris who she did not even know but her father liked him. This was the beginning of her fate to end it all because she fell in love with the wrong person. Then she took it too far without realizing that they were not actually meant to be.
