Reflection On The Holocaust

During the Holocaust, six million Jews were sent to their deaths. Nevertheless, in the Holocaust literature, one can find the glimpse of joy. In 1933, in Germany, Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party created a German Empire & Jews were no place in Hitler’s vision. Love & Laughter were two of the main things that made Jews and other people forget the time happening in the Holocaust, including nature. Almost 2,700,000 Jews were sent to extermination camps such as, Treblinka and Chelmno, where they were lately killed.

The holocaust begin in 1933 and ended in 1945. The Jewish people were targeted by the nazis because Hitler and the nazis blamed Jewish people for the cause of WWI to cover up the fact of how bad they were. The way Jewish people were discriminated against was by the government they would use their power to target and exclude Jewish people from German society. First, they would strip them of their rights.

"Concentration camps, that's what you call, uh, a camp what actually is annihilation...they annihilate people, actually. " This quote by Abraham Lewent sums up the story of the Holocaust and what an egregious time it was. The genocide of over six million people during World War II was the Holocaust. It all started with a man named Adolf Hitler and his rise to power and the German people who were desperate to believe anything they were told.

The Holocaust was a period of time when Adolf Hitler spread his ideology. He formed a group called the Nazis which were Germans. They hated Jewish people and had the idea that Jewish people ought to die. 6 million Jewish people died during this period of time. The Holocaust started in 1933 and ended in 1945.

Unspoken Victims of The Holocaust Of the countless victims of Adolf Hitler’s brutal genocide none were persecuted more than the Jews, however, among the large death toll many others were mercilessly punished for their race, beliefs, or occupation. A major target for Hitler’s “Final Solution” was the mentally and physically disabled. In their article on the mentally and physically handicapped the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum wrote “The Law for the Prevention of Progeny with Hereditary Diseases, proclaimed July 14, 1933, forced the sterilization of all persons who suffered from diseases considered hereditary, such as mental illness (schizophrenia and manic depression), retardation (congenital feeble-mindedness), physical deformity,

The Holocaust Research Project The Holocaust was the world’s largest known genocide with over 11 million victims. (Bachrach 10) The first kidnapping spree of Jews started in Germany on January 30, 1933, which later spread to Austria, Poland, and eventually Czechoslovakia. (Altman 5) People in Germany were not very aware of what was happening until November 9, 1938, when over 30,000 Jews were killed and 190 synagogues were burned to the ground. “The Unrecognized” In order to better understand the Holocaust, one needs to be familiar with the definition. The Holocaust embodies the systematic slaughter of approximately six million Jewish men, women, and children, in addition to millions of others, by the Nazis during WWll. Furthermore, the origin of the word is rooted in the Greek/Hebrew term for a burnt sacrifice given to God. The ultimate horror of the Holocaust happened in the death camps as bodies were burned whole in the crematoria ( Benerbaum ).

Chapter One When I finally wake the first thought that comes to mind is “What on Earth is that god awful smell?” Did someone forget to take the trash out? For a week? That’s when I blink my eyes and find myself on what looks like a dirty nasty cattle car. I am completely surrounded by people.

Unfortunately, the Holocaust left psychological impacts and memories to all the Holocaust survivors. Fallowing the liberation of the concentration camps, the Holocaust survivors set their journey on their new lives, new families, and new homes. Suppressed by the trauma they sustained during this time. The trauma of the Holocaust unfortunately did not end at liberation from the concentrations camps because survivors could not cope with the suffering whey were exposed to during Hitler’s regime.

Historians have been debating how the spirit triumphed during the Holocaust for years. The spirit triumphed through the Holocaust through many, many distractions, nature, and the support and love of family and friends. The Nazis had killed, and enslaved so many Jewish people in concentration camps. But, the Nazis couldn’t take their spirit from them.

Staggering statistics and different types of media serving as evidence to the horrors committed during the Holocaust does not fully explain why the Holocaust occurred in the first place. A history of hatred and a strong military in support for a charismatic leader employed a history of hatred into the horrific event known today as the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). But, although there were all those countries they were all part of one larger group called the Nazis, were the ones who were killing all the different denominations of people. (Bachrach 58).

The Holocaust is the deadliest recognized genocide in human history. It lasted from January 30,1933 – May 8,1945 and would result in the l1 million deaths. The causes of the Holocaust begin at the end of World War One with what Germans referred to as “the stab in the back”. This was a myth that claimed the German Army did not loose World War One but was betrayed by the Jewish population who gave up land and supplies to the Allies. As this spread anti-Semitism or hate for Jewish people grew in Germany as people viewed the Jewish population as deceptive and traitorous.
