The story of Night is about a boy named Elie that was forced to live in the ghetto with his family. It was all an edict from Hitler. Elie was forced to go in a box car that was very hermetic on a journey to Auschwitz.

Throughout Elie’s journey in the Holocaust in the book Night by Elie Wiesel. he encountered many situations that no human being should ever have to experience. Destruction of human morals and souls was taken place, but it didn’t just affect these people, instead, it affected everyone around the world. For the people that took this tragedy on first hand, it has affected the rest of their life. These memories were drilled into their heads and never left.

Elie Wiesel’s relationship with God changes during his time in Auschwitz. He becomes angry with God for letting His own creations starve, torture, and mercilessly murder His devout worshippers. Wiesel cannot understand why his creator would open “six crematoria working day and night” to slaughter human beings (Wiesel 67). He does not trust God to be just any longer, for “every fiber in [him rebels]” (67). Wiesel feels he is stronger than the God whom he was bound to for so long, and he “no longer [accepts] God’s silence” (69).

The people in the memoir, and in other concentration camps, suffer greatly from dehumanization and desensitization. There came a point when the Jewish people did not even see themselves as men anymore, and as the story progressed they became numb to the deaths around them, they were also treated like and animals by the leaders in the camps.
