The colonists fired the first shot of the revolutionary war. Multiple sources say that the colonists shot and then hid behind stone walls and that right as the British were approaching the colonists shot. The colonists fired the first shot and then proceeded to hide behind stone walls. The London Gazette (Doc 8) says, “several guns were fired upon the arrival of the king 's troop from behind a stone wall.”

On June 17, they notice the Patriots have a defense set up and now decide to attack. They moved their troops to Bunker Hill and attacked on June 17, 1775 (The Battle of Bunker Hill

This American victory continued patriots’ for being free, secured essential foreign recognition and support. Since then it changed the face of the world. Since the first shot of the battle in April

Major Battles of the American Revolution 1776. Any American who has studied American history should recognize this date instantly. On July fourth of that historic year, America declared her independence from Great Britain. However, this world changing statement did not surprise everyone involved. As a matter of fact, this revolution had been in the works for many years.

One of the battles was the Battle of Cowpens. The Battle of Cowpens was fought on January 17, 1781 and was between American Colonial forces under Brigadier General Daniel Morgan and British forces under Sir Banastre Tarleton. “The Battle of Cowpens took place on January 17, 1781 in the hills just north of the town of Cowpens, South Carolina. The Battle of Cowpens was the turning point of the Revolutionary War in the southern colonies. After losing several battles in the South, the Continental Army defeated the British in a decisive victory at Cowpens.

The battle of bunker hill was both a win and a loss for the British army. The British army was surprised to see the Americans there threatening them. British military custom demanded that the British attack the Americans, even though the Americans were in a superior position. The troops stormed up the hill. The Americans waited until they could see the white of their eyes and fired.

The battle ended with the Militia winning the battle and taking over the British fleet the HMS Diana. The Battle of Bunker Hill (www.history.com) occured on June 17, 1775. This was one of the major battles in the American Revolutionary War, there were 1,000 soldiers under Colonel William Prescott. This battle was one of many during the Siege of Boston.

The Siege of Yorktown The Siege of Yorktown can also be identified as The Surrender at Yorktown, The German Battle, or The Battle of Yorktown. This battle was the last battle of the revolutionary war, but did not mark the end of it. This battle greatly affected the outcome of the revolutionary war.

Britain's inability to establish authority over her colonies after the 7 Years War led the colonist to feel they were independent from British rule. When British government tried to reinstate British laws over the colonies, many citizens felt that it wasn’t fair. Many small events sparked multiple major causes that led America to want separate from Great Britain. Among those causes were protection of religious freedom, the taxes that resulted because of the French and Indian War, and Salutary Neglect. These causes led the Americans to victory after they entered the war because they understood the consequences if they didn’t win.

During the year 1781 in Charlottesville, Virginia, three men discuss the following events of the last battle of the Revolutionary War four days before the event. 5:38 pm - Charlottesville, Virginia “Alexander sir, would it trouble you to come in here for a moment?” Washington asked, waiting for an answer. Hamilton replied “Not at all, what can I help you fine gentlemen with?”.

The Battle of Valley Forge was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. Although no actual military battle was waged here, George Washington’s Continental Army faced some physical and mental battles of their own in this Pennsylvania town. It was here at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania where the Continental Army Soldiers of the Revolutionary War chose to go after being defeated in the Battle of Germantown in October 1777. During this winter, Washington’s troops came to this encampment to recuperate and train for future battles with the British.

If the following events didn’t take place we wouldn’t have America. In my opinion the Boston Massacre was one of the very main causes to why the Road to Revolution took place. The reason I believe this was an important cause because it was, “ the first episode which resulted in the loss of life.” It is stated that, “Four Bostonians were killed when Redcoats fired into an angry mob.”

The Battle of Saratoga in September and October of 1777 is the turning point of the Revolutionary War because the French joined with allies, British troops surrendered their arms, and the Patriots had crucial victories. It was a victory for the Patriots in the American Revolution and is the most decisive battles in history. The Battle began as a plan by the British to control New York and isolate New England from the Southern colonies and put an end to the Revolution. Which ended as an opportunity for the Patriots.
