I read an interesting book that left me thinking of the way I shop and I don’t mean the way I shop at clothing stores I mean the way I shop for groceries, it also left me thinking of the food that I’ve been eating and even the food that I order when I go to fast food restaurants. This book is “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” it pictures the reality in the food business, but in a different funny way to understand it better. The book even makes you think of how important food is in life and it can also make you see a new way of looking at the food that’s on your plate. Pollan’s point, the author for this book tries to make us think and realize of what we’re doing with our food, how we get it, and even if we save money with our way of buying it.

Author of the New York Times #1 bestseller novel Salt, Sugar, Fat How the Food Giants Hooked Us and a Pulitzer Prize Winner, Michael Moss examines in his novel the correlation between the American diet and processed foods. Michael Moss not only writes about his visits to the infamous food factories but he also cites short accounts of food factory founders and includes the interviews of multiple individuals who have high positions in the processed food industries which he scrutinizes in his novel. He provides the reader with first-hand accounts of individuals who partook in either critiquing the efforts of food industries or were directly involved in the obesity epidemic that has overtaken the American diet.

She consistently relates to the reader's emotion and also is a major part of the purpose of her work. She uses the unhealthiness of American society to appeal to your emotion. In modern day society, obesity is a growing problem. As she introduces and develops the idea of the supermarket tied to obesity. She also tells how with this growing problem, supermarkets are not making it easier on the consumer.

When dealing with fast food the question becomes, Where do we point the finger? The essay "Don’t Blame the Eater" written by David Zinczenko and "What You Eat Is Your Business" by Radely Balko, both explore the issue of fast food eating. The contradiction presents its-self when trying to figure out who is to blame for the health problems people face due to fast food. David Zinczenko sympathizes with kids and argue that by providing nutrition labels it will help the people make better choices, while Radely Balko stress the idea that people should take self responbilitie. Although each essay has very many strong points and were written very well "Don’t Blame the Eater" was written better than the essay "What You Eat is your Business" due to abundance of evidence and background.

“Food, Inc.” is a documentary about the production of food that many people do not know about. The purpose of the film was to bring awareness of the industrial food production hoping that viewers will make better choices when eating. It was an interesting film because it showed footages of farms, slaughterhouses and food packaging factories, things that some people might not be aware of because it is not usually covered in the news. Aristotle’s means of persuasion was used in this film to demonstrate the main points. Ethos was used throughout the film.

“In Aristotelian terms, the good leader must have ethos, pathos and logos. The ethos is his moral character, the source of his ability to persuade. The pathos is his ability to touch feelings to move people emotionally. The logos is his ability to give solid reasons for an action, to move people intellectually,” said Mortimer Adler. Many of the greatest artists use ethical, logical, and emotional appeals to prove their points.

As a senior at Patrick Henry High School (PHHS), I am greatly concerned with the inadequate fulfillment of public school children’s dietary needs and the poor quality of school lunches. The lack of the necessary components from the meals provided by the district shows the scarcity of care towards students. By purchasing local, fresh produce from San Diegan farms, the nutritional value of meals would be greatly enriched; furthermore, it would lead to a reduction of costs and an effort to prevent childhood obesity. Poor eating habits instigate the enervated physiques and well-beings of students. In order to deter from these detrimental results, support from the district is crucial.

With the article, Moss exposes the industry for their fault in the epidemic when he notes the meeting that CEOs attend on behalf of their representing companies at the start of this social issue (472-473). Moss depicts the meeting as a rare, but necessary gathering of chief executives, but alludes to the unsuccess early on. This narrative of the event shows as evidence that multiple groups within the food business recognize their fault in this epidemic. Moss explains that some companies, ready to take responsibility, wish to persuade the rest to join their efforts to make change, and that this became meet with opposition from others who felt as though society holds the blame, not providers (475-477). During this debate, the clear line between right and wrong emerges.

Fast food companies have massive businesses, which causes them to have an effect on the American economy. He depicts the way fast food companies target little children for their business to give them profit. He wants to illustrate to people that the fast food they eat can cause health related problems. He wants people to understand that they should stop eating fast food and should eat homemade food instead, as it is healthier. He wants everyone to have the ability to know and differentiate between good and bad food to help them make a healthy decision while deciding which food to eat.

In the article, “The Pleasures of Eating”, author Wendell Berry shares his knowledge of the food industry and discusses the act of eating as part of the agricultural process. Berry asks deep questions in his article that will make the readers question what they are putting into their homes and into their bodies. Most Americans, according to Berry, can be categorized as passive consumers that are basically allowing food industrialist to brainwash them by means of advertisement. He argues ,“They pay, mostly without protest, what they are charged” implying that the consumers do not even question what additional cost, such as transportation, might have added to the product .The article provides an interesting perspective on consuming food and Berry shares multiple ways that the passive consumer can become more educated on food.

In the year 2010, President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama created the “Hunger-Free Kids Act” of 2010, which has created problems among students. In the year 2012, Michelle Obama also created the “Let’s Move Campaign” in order to reduce childhood obesity, and to give students access to healthy food in their school lunches. The “Hunger-Free Kids Act” means that no student should go hungry, and the “Let’s Move Campaign” makes the lunches healthier. Unfortunately, due to the quality and quantity of the meals that the students now receive, more kids are refusing to eat school lunches, and remain hungry during school hours. Not only does this outrage students, it also infuriates parents, teachers and staff as well.

Have you ever wondered what is in your food? How it is made? How it is processed to become the way it is? In Wendell Berry ’s essay he explains how food has been changed to become the way it is. He wants you to eat responsibly because you have the right to know what makes your food and what is in it.

To make kids at my high school quit eating Junk food. and try to eat more healthy food so they can stay healthy and in good shape. The audience that would listen to the proposal would be the school administration and all the students because they should also be part of that because it is a useful thing for them as well teachers because teachers will be able to teach this at each classroom and make sure that the students. I am sure they would have the positive attitude toward me because I am trying to help them out by letting them know that eating unhealthy food can cause medical issues and it can be bad for their children. so, of course, they are going to have a positive thinking on this matter.
