In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare suggests that the Prince is responsible for the lovers’ death because of his lack of control over his people, but young lovers are not responsible because love is uncontrollable. Losing family in war because of an unintelligent mistake, leaves a very big mark in life that is hard to forget. When the Prince is talking about the families’ feud and their disagreements, he said, “And I, for winking at your discords too, Have lost a brace of kinsmen” (5.3.304,305). This quote demonstrates that the Prince admits that he is causing this feud between the families. He says that he lost two family members during this feud. He’s talking about Paris who is a very good friend of his. People’s actions can lead to …show more content…
When Juliet says goodbye to Romeo for a short amount of time, she exclaims, “Good night, good night. Parting is such a sweet sorrow. That I shall say ‘Good night’ till it be morrow” (2.3.199-201). It is hard to say goodbye even for a short time when an individual is in love. It could be hard if both of the lovers have a deep and strong connection. They need to stay loyal to each other, until they see each other again. It also portrays that it could be both a happy or sad moment. Sweet means that good came out of this, and sorrow means a very sad moment. Juliet says good night twice because she is portraying how deep her feelings are and how she feels at that moment. She doesn’t want to say goodbye for such a long time. She also says, ‘till it be morrow,’ which means that she wants to meet up with him soon. Falling in love can also come with consequences. Juliet drinks a potion, this potion makes her “die” for 42 hours. Juliet wants to drink this potion because she wants to see Romeo again and not marry Paris. “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo! Here’s drink. I drink to thee” (4.3.59,60). Juliet is willing to take risks just for her to be closer to Romeo. She says his name three times to show that she really wants to be with him. She’s willing to do whatever it takes to be closer to
When people are in love they most likely do things to rash and quick without thinking of the consequences in the future or how it will affect everyone else in their lives. This is Romeo and Juliet, they decided they were so in love they wanted to marry each other the next day. If either of them had thought of what terrible things this would bring to both of them because of how quick they were moving, they would realize how bad of an idea it is to get married after knowing each other for only three or four hours. In the prologue, “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life” (DBQ: Project, 2013), Romeo and Juliet are destined to take their life after one another. With a misunderstanding that Juliet is dead, Romeo drinks poison to die with his lover.
“By love, that first did prompt me to inquire.” says Romeo (Act 2, Scene 2, 78-80). Juliet is asking how he knew where to come and see her and is afraid of what her parents would do if they saw him. “O, wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?” says Romeo to Juliet (Act 2, Scene 2, 125), as he is about to leave. He is pressuring her to give love to him before he leaves, to satisfy him. Romeo is doing all of these things to get Juliet to love him more and more, but also she has a part to do with their death
Paris is the reason that Juliet is so hurt inside even considering killing
In visiting her, Paris finds Romeo and they fight, leading to Paris’
Friar suggests a potion that will put her into a death-like sleep for 42 hours, causing her family to believe she is dead, thus getting her out of marrying Paris. His instructions to Juliet of when and how to take the potion are written in a letter to Romeo, so he comes to Juliet when she awakes. Juliet comes to her parents after leaving friar’s cell, and tells them she is ready to be married. This results in her father moving the wedding up a day, which interferes with friar’s plans for Juliet. In turn, Juliet takes the potion sooner, which puts her in the “stiff and stark and cold [sleep that], appear[s] like death,” a day earlier than originally planned (IV. i. 113).
****). Juliet then becomes so desperate to not marry Paris that she takes the liquor the Friar offers her to fake her death (Shakespeare IV.1.121-125). In these lines, Friar Lawrence explains what will happen once Juliet drinks this liquor. Friar Lawrence states, “No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest; / The roses in thy lips and
Then have at thee boy!” (Shakespeare V. III. 70). Romeo took Paris’s words as a challenge. He fought and killed Paris because he was in the way of Juliet and his impulsive nature shines through with anything concerning her. He has no impulse control and doesn’t think, he just acts on things he will come to later regret.
I have chosen one of the key people in this book that led to the deaths of Romeo and Juliette is Friar Laurence. I am choosing to punish the Friar because in act 2 Romeo went to his church and told him they would like to get married. Even after the Friar said that this was not true love, the only reason was that she was a pretty girl and that “man's heart lives in man's eye.” He still agreed to marry them. This shows that he didn’t care if they loved each other and was more concerned about the ongoing fight between the families.
Romeo is responsible for his and Juliet’s deaths. In Act 3,Scene 5 Romeo says “Farewell,Farewell one kiss and i’ll descend. Romeo is telling Juliet he has to leave after one kiss. He doesnt know if he’ll see her again.
Juliet says, “ I will confess to you that I love him” (4/1/25). Her confessing her felling later right after her parents told her she must marry Paris she feels trapped leading to her death Juliet's decision to willingly take the potion to not marry Paris makes Romeo think that she is dead causing him to commit suicide leading to her death as well. Juliet says, “Give me, give me. O tell me not to fear” (4.1.121). This statement made by Juliet is her acceptance to take the potion.
This quote by Unknown states “When we make selfish decisions we destroy those left in the wake of our disaster.” In the tragic play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet’s selfish decision leave them and members in the play dead and others devastated. Romeo and Juliet caused their death by selfish decisions, rushing into serious situations, and their immaturity. The way they acted shows how they are most to blame for their own deaths. Romeo and Juliet caused their own death by their selfish decisions.
Juliet is asking Friar Laurence what she should do because she doesn’t want to marry Paris, so Friar Laurence will give Juliet a potion to make Juliet sleep for 2 days and then her parents will think she died and will bury her in the family tomb, all so she can avoid marring
He shall not make me there a joyful bride...”. This demonstrates how Juliet feels about marrying Paris, but she could have just avoided this by actually telling the truth about her being married with Romeo. With all the evidence provided, it shows that Juliet was also to blame due to her not thinking about better decisions about handling her little problems that can be dealt with
Romeo met with the friar to discuss marriage with him but the friar knowing Romeo he knows he just got over a girl he loved. The friar had Romeo that “these violent delights have violent ends and in their triumph die…. Therefore, love moderately. Long love doth so. Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow” (2.6.9-15).
Juliet is so desperate to be with Romeo she is willing to drink this potion and put her life on hold. She’s trying to say that she will drink this potion for Romeo and by doing this her and Romeo will be together. Although Juliet definitely realizes that there could be a bad ending in her making this decision, she does it anyway and hopes for the best which is her being with Romeo and living happily ever
