The comedy film, Napoleon Dynamite (2004), is a hilarious cult movie that stars Jon Heder as Napoleon, Efren Ramirez as Pedro Sanchez, Tina Majorino as Deb Bradshaw, and Aaron Ruell as Kip Dynamite. This movie follows the character of Napoleon who is a socially awkward 16-year old boy living in Idaho. Napoleon is not a popular character. He only has three friends and they are the dweebs of their high school. However, this does not discourage them from running for class president, attending their school dance, and living their immensely awkward and immature young lives.

He is told that if he truly wants to attend to Notre Dame, his only chances are talking to a Priest from Holy Cross College. After meeting the Priest he tells Rudy that he could give him some sponsorship so he could attend school and if he does exceptionally well, he could possibly be able to transfer and go to Notre Dame. His passion for playing football is so grand that he even tried to work for free for the Notre Dame groundskeeper Fortune, Fortune denies him to work for free, but instead, he offers him a job, also, Fortune secretly leaves Rudy the key to the maintenance room to stay after watching Rudy sneaking into there to stay. On top of that, while being a student in Holy Cross, Rudy snuck into the Notre Dame football equipment preparation club that is exclusively for Notre Dame students. The film Rudy is about a young man that wants to make his dreams come true of being able to play football for the Fighting Irish at Notre Dame. Rudy, the main character, has been working at the steel mill for four years with his friend and dad. Then Rudy’s friend dies in an accident and he decides to go and accomplish his life goal of playing football for the fighting irish at the university of notre dame. And the only way for Rudy to get into Notre Dame is to go to the holy cross school until he gets good enough grades. So Rudy gets good enough grades and makes it into Notre Dame, and after working hard at every practice he is allowed to play in the final game for two plays which is all the ever wanted.

Throughout the movie “Pleasantville”, there are numerous social issues. This paper will look at and identify some of them, as well as defining the basic social issues and how they relate to the movie. Some sociological concepts found in the movie include Race and Ethnicity, Age Stratification, and Social Interaction. Throughout the movie, there are plenty of examples, but I will use the three main concepts I found. The example of Race and Ethnicity would be Discrimination.

There a variety of social norms in this documentary. Norms are defined as the expectations of “right” behavior. All of the families in this documentary have a constant norm of working on the farms planting and gathering crops. The younger children mostly have to work with their parents in the fields. They are expected to do this to help the family’s income.

In this sense, the filmmaker has the strong basis for adapting a play to the big screen. “A Raisin in the Sun” is a play by Lorraine Hansberry that debuted on Broadway in 1959.

Through the analysis of the movie Girl, Interrupted, many of the characters behave in all sorts of manners, ranging from being unreasonable, frightened, happy, sad, or disturbed due to their varieties of behaviors. All the characters include different ailments that affect the way they act, respond, and interpret situations. In accordance with personality theories, the movie Girl, Interrupted explores the memoir of a young woman through personality disorders, traits, and humanism during her stay in a McLean psychiatric institution during the 1960’s. Susanna Kaysen, the protagonist, is diagnosed as having borderline personality disorder, due to her attempt at suicide by consuming an entire bottle of alcohol with aspirin.

Although the film Psycho is comprised of several elements from the traditional “Heroic Journey” format, it also strays away from this convention with the purpose of bewildering the viewer. One can observe several elements of the Heroic Journey format void of the film, many of which void due to the element of selfishness. At the early stages of the film, Marion Crane can be seen with her boyfriend, Sam Loomis. Loomis states that he is working hard to pay off his father’s debts and concurrently paying alimony to his ex-wife. The implication here is that Loomis is struggling financially.

‘A Time to Kill’ is a movie that depicts the racial tensions between the white and black Americans in the past. The movie revolves around the life of Jake Brigance, a lawyer, and Carl Lee Hailey, as he struggles with the law and racism after seeking justice for his raped 10-year old daughter. As Carl Lee approaches Brigance for help with his case, they both face the challenge of blurring the lines between the white and black Americans and helping Carl Lee escape the long arms of the law. In the movie, racism, negligence of one side of the story, and objectivity are applied.

A Psychological Analysis of Forrest Gump. The movie Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks) tells a story of a simple man and his journey through life. Forrest Gump’s story takes place during a time of historical significance in our country, The United States of America. His story began in the 1950’s, and ran through the 1970’s.

The film starts out with an African American man walking in the suburbs. He sees a car and is frightened. A person in a hood strangles him from behind and kidnaps him. This illustrates the fear African Americans have in a white society. The movie then fasts forwards to New York City and turns the focus on Chris who is a successful young photographer.

The movie I chose to write my psychology review was on Girl Interrupted. The movie was based on the writer Susanna Kaysen’s and her eighteen month stay at a mental hospital, but the movie was directed by James Mangold. My reasoning’s for choosing this movie was due to the fact that it carried many psychological concepts to it. The movies main script revolved around Susana’s and with the crazy women in a mental institution. This movie had two main characters and they were Susanna (Winona Ryder) and Lisa (Angelina Jolie).

The movie “Twelve Angry Men” illustrates lots of social psychology theories. This stretched and attractive film, characterize a group of jurors who have to decide the innocence or guiltiness of an accused murder. They are simply deliberating the destiny of a Puerto Rican teenaged boy accused of murdering his father. Initially, as the film begins, except the juror Davis (Henry Fonda), all other jurors vote guilty. Progressively, the jurors begin trying to compromise on a point that everybody agree because the decision of the jury has to be unanimous.
