Scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship are extremely important ideals, in not only National Junior Honor Society, but in our society as well. All five of these words ingrain an influential meaning to the many adolescents living in our community. However, these words mean different things to all of us. To me, they may mean one thing, yet to someone else, something entirely different. The word scholarship means attempting to do my best in each one of my endeavors to reach my goals. Scholarship means working hard for your achievements and being determined, not just sitting and waiting for them to come to me. Scholarship means the willingness to put in blood, sweat, and tears if it means a successful future for me. I demonstrate scholarship in my life by working until I can’t anymore. I maintain straight A’s. By working hard, I am making it easier for me to have a more successful future and in turn a happier future. It means guiding a group of people to success, even if it means that I have to make sacrifices. Scholarship and leadership go hand in hand. Although being a leader requires persistence and diligence, anyone of us can be a leader. A leader can also take losses because they can learn from them. I do consider myself a leader. I’m adept at problem solving, and I’d say I can deal with setbacks eloquently. I’ll happily do whatever it takes to get to my goal. On the other hand, being a leader doesn’t just mean working independently. It also means that you’ll work with people easily, and the ability to show sportsmanship.
