The second observational technique we chose was partial interval recording. Partial interval recording is noting whether or not the target behavior occurs during part a distinct time interval over a period of time. For partial interval recording, the event does not need to occur for the entire interval. It must only occur at some point during the interval. Therefore, however, partial interval recording often leads to an overestimated time for the behavior. This overestimate can make the data slightly unreliable. We decided to use an interval recording because, if the student’s behavior was recorded multiple times, it would allow the teacher and/or the recorder clearly identify any patters amongst the child’s behavior based on the timing of
Phillip Kmetz LA365 General Psychology May 8, 2016 Module 11 Case Study 1. “Kevin is a cheerful nine-year-old third grader who is brought to the outpatient clinic after the teacher at the private school he attends repeatedly called his mother about his worsening classroom behavior. His teacher described him as a likable and friendly youngster who always obeyed when spoken to but also repeatedly disrupted the class by his antics and could no longer be tolerated in the classroom. The teacher reported that he hummed and make noises under his breath, blurted out answers without raising his hand, and always tried to be first when the teacher asked a question, even though he often did not have the answer when called upon.
In the BCBA Task List H-01 and H-02, the BCBA professional is responsible for selecting both an appropriate measurement system and observational periods. Alberto and Troutman (2013) notes that taking accurate and appropriate data allows service professionals to evaluate and analyze the trends in the student’s behavior and program. For example, I take frequency and duration data (measurement systems) each day (observational periods) on my student’s behaviors. His behaviors include self-injurious behavior (biting of the right wrist), aggression (poking with left hand with the first two fingers), throwing objects (ex. iPad, communication device, or any other electronic devices) in the surrounding area. For each behavior, I note how many times
I have supervised PEO Wayne Cross #65964 since June 18, 2015. PEO Cross reports for duty on time and has settled in well with other members on C Platoon. PEO Cross is assigned to work in 32 Divisions Zones 4 and 5. PEO Cross has not had much time training with a coach officer and as working independently in his assigned area. PEO Cross is doing an outstanding job and is performing at or above the set expectation most of the time.
There is visual significance to the intervention. During the baseline period of the project the data trends to be stable and flat for the most part, yet increased towards the end of the week. The intervention period started on day eight and showed a decline in the target behavior, with the exception of an increase on the final day, day fourteen. I anticipated the increase, since this was the day before my flight back home from Florida and I was worried about making everything fit into my suitcase without it being over the weight limit because I was coming back with more items than I originally went down with.
What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator! How do turtles talk to each other? By using shell phones! Why are teddy bears never hungry?
Before exploring ways of managing behaviours and supporting children positively within the classroom/school environment I will be looking at the characteristics that influence particular behaviours. Which can be or become disruptive to a child’s social and emotional wellbeing, their learning and consequently negatively impact both themselves and those around
However, our ethograms did show some differences in our results. We had a total of 10 observable behaviors and we recorded for a total of 20 minutes which left us opportunities for 200 agreements or disagreements. Overall, we agreed 190 of the times and we only had 10 disagreements. After discussing our observation and our results, we also concluded that the few disagreements we did have were simply from a missed observation during that interval or small misunderstandings between us. One of the disagreements in a few of the intervals, was deciding if the black tail deer was playing with a spider web or actually playing with the cage.
Behavior Rating Scales: In order to gain objective information about Debbie’s social, emotional, and behavioral functioning across different settings, Debbie, her mother and teacher were asked to complete aspects of the Behavior Assessment System for Children – Second Edition (BASC-2). The BASC-2 is an integrated multi-method system aimed at evaluating children’s behavior and self-perceptions. The BASC-2 is multidimensional in that it measures numerous aspects of behavior and personality including positive, or adaptive, as well as problematic, or maladaptive, behaviors and self-perceptions.
Observational Knowledge Lab Report Our moon makes a full orbit around Earth approximately every 27 days. Each day as the moon rises, it completes a different phase in its orbit. These phases begin with a new moon, and progress into the other 7 phases. These phases, in order, are waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full, waning gibbous, last quarter, and waning crescent.
Learning is something people do on a daily bases, some do not even know that learning is occurring. The gaining of new knowledge and or skills from experience leads to change in behavior is the logical definition of the term learning (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner, Nock, 2015). There are three different ways to come about learning these are, Classical conditioning, Operant conditioning and Observational Conditioning. Each conditioning is unique in their own way in describes a different way of learning. Right now we’ll focus more o n Classical conditioning and Operant conditioning.
The statement “There are only two ways in which humankind can produce knowledge: through passive observation or through active experiment” implies that knowledge can be acquired through very limited methods. The term ‘passive’ indicates the acceptance of a situation without a response or resistance, whereas ‘active’ implies the intentional engagement or voluntary participation. The lexis ‘observation’ can be defined as the act of perceiving or taking note of a situation, whereas ‘experiment’ refers to the act of attempting a practical trial. Therefore, in the context of the prescribed title, “passive observation” refers to a learner perceiving and accepting knowledge without any initiation or resistance. This could be a learner obtaining shared

Suffering to Be Redeemed Shadowlands and A Grief Observed are both mediums that quite honestly had me wiping tears, they have us look at suffering in a different way. In the film Shadowlands, we see C.S. Lewis or Jack and we follow his relationship with his friend, and eventual wife, Joy. They have a wonderful friendship that blossoms into a love like no other either of them had the felt, but like every good love story, it had to end with death. In Shadowlands, Anthony Hopkins gives us an image of a man that lives a very structured and rigid life, until he does something a little different and agrees to meet with a woman, and she consequently shakes his life up a bit. The structure we see in the film is not reflected in the book that follows after the death of Joy, in A Grief Observed.
Observation is one way to collect the data. Creswell (2009, p.181) argues that observation is kind of collecting the data in which the researchers take field notes on the behavior and activities individuals at the research site. Meanwhile, Sugiyono (2011, p. 245) has classified observation in three types. They are participant observation, overt observation, and unstructured observation. This study was refers to the participant observation because Sugiyono (2011, p 226) states that “In participants observation, the researcher observes what people do, listen to what they say, and participate”.
During Science class students were given instruction during the first five minutes of class. These included class announcements and directions of plotting longitude and latitude coordinates. During this transition into the class activity Eric was on his Chromebook toggling between Google Classroom and basketball news/stats. When Mrs. Beal repeated the direction for a 3rd time that students are to be opening Google Classroom to the class, although directed at Eric, he then initiated the task and remained focused for 5 intervals.
