Growing up in a big family can be a bit overwhelming at times. Living in a small town where everyone knows you according to your last name creates an image of who and what you’re expected to be like. We are often judged on our looks, what we wear, how we talk, who we are friends with and who we are related to. Being shy is described as being nervous in front of other people and being self-conscious. Self-confidence can be an important aspect in the lives of many people, yet so many of them struggle to find it. The last name Shepardson is a very well-known name in my town. There are so many of them it’s hard to. They are some of the most outgoing and sociable people I know, they aren’t afraid to start a conversation with anyone. I happen …show more content…
Through the years I was able to develop into a motivated individual. As I found myself feeling more compassionate towards other people, the less I cared how they viewed me. I learned to love school. I started to make friends became an active student in the school community. Confidence is the key to academic success. My greatest academic achievement is becoming a member of the National Honor Society. When i entered middle school, I wanted to play sports with my friends. That year I tried out for the soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball team. I excelled in these sports and as a result, I learned to push myself and take risks. Without confidence a team could not exist. I stayed in church school until I was in tenth grade, and that year I received the sacrament of Confirmation. I was able to do this without feeling alone. I refused to let my shyness take me over. Overcoming my fear of the unknown and finding my self-confidence has been a challenging yet rewarding experience for me. I have learned that making mistakes isn’t wrong, and that they are a part of life. “With realization of one’s own potential and self-confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better
One significant accomplishment that means the most to me was being voted for McAdory High School's Class of 2016 SGA Class Treasurer. Winning the election, in May of 2016, has shown me how I am looked up to by my fellow peers. Having 244 students in my grade is already a lot of kids, but having the Class of 2015 vote on the Class of 2016 officers means that over the years I have become a role-model for those younger than me; that itself means to me to always do what is good and honorable because I will have younger eyes watching me and being influenced by my actions. I have always tried my best in school work, cheerleading, and after-school clubs, so because of that I have a valued accomplishment of a high GPA and a long list of extracurricular
The best thing I had accomplishment in high school is doing my 200 over hours in the Mercy Medical Hospital. Doing this was a big accomplishment because I learned how to communicate with the people in the community and also I had also learned new things on how to take care of the patients their to make them feel comfortable while they where their. How I earned these hours was by going once a week and doing four hours and I help people locate where they need to go and I also go to the floors and help them get their things ready when they are about to get discharged. Also, when I was able to work on the weekend and during my breaks I had done eight hours each day I took the extra hours to show that I am capable that I wanna help the people
My English grade went up from 1s and 2s. My overall grade went up to a 2.5. Additionally, in my school, we have a class called Crew. It’s one teacher with fifteen kids or less, and she helps us with the grades and communicate with the group so that you became comfortable in the group, and she was my crew leader. Looking back, I realized that if i had started high school with the same mentality that I ended it with, I would be more successful now and have much more options for my future.
My proudest achievement would be getting into Cumberland International Early College and making it oy my senior year. The three years I have spent at Cumberland International have been very difficult because of many reasons such as being on the campus of Fayetteville State University, taking almost two years of high school in only two semesters, and being pushed to excel from the beginning in order to prepare to take full level college courses by our tenth grade year. Although I struggled during my time at CIECHS it was a truly amazing opportunity to be accepted as the third graduating class of its time. Being at a school that had only been running for two full years has both positive and negative aspects. We were changing the curriculum
Getting exceptional grades has been very important to me and the support of my family has made this goal attainable. My family made my dream of graduating first in my class achievable. While I participate in many hours of co-curricular activities throughout the school year, I have excelled in field hockey, basketball,
I had a goal in life, I had a drive, and I had a support system that wanted me to succeed. I stopped getting in trouble, and focused all my energy within my academics, and it really did pay off. I am now a part of Phi Theta Kappa, with a 3.91 GPA currently, and I honestly could not be happier. It is still a constant struggle every day, to deal with all of my problems without any form of medical help besides counseling, but it’s something I’ve learned to survive
This was a tremendous transition for me. I was required to leave my friends and classmates that I had known for the previous seven years in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. Soon I realized that I needed to overcome my introversion
My time during the Middle School has been very influential to me. During it I have been able to find the things that I enjoy the most and have the most success at. The primary examples of these are; maths, science, and basketball. By realising this I have positioned myself well for the senior school as I am learning as much as I can in the areas that I enjoy. I feel that through this I was able to be very proactive in taking responsibility for my learning in an enjoyable way – this is my greatest achievement for the Middle School.
An activity, interest, experience, or achievement that has been particularly meaningful to me in my life is being in an educational group called educational talent search otherwise known as TRIO. This helped me realize that this my future I need to take control and do what’s best for me and my education. This not only helped me get serious about my future but also helped me find the right college(s) that I know I would have liked to apply to such as the University of Central Florida. Being able to visit the college and see what it was about was a great and beneficial experience.
I had thought that the things I learned in high school were going to help, but I learned that high school was an overview and college in-depth. After receiving my midterm grades I saw where I needed to improve. I made changes to my study habits and time allotted to those classes in hopes to improve my grades. Classes
They say the path to confidence is not a direct route. There are always things getting in the way of us fully accepting ourselves; whether those be forces outside of us or inside of us. We are constantly bombarded with images of girls that are a size 2, naturally or photoshopped. Sometimes, the inside forces are more vicious than the magazines. We are so hard on ourselves.
Despite all the challenges, I received my high school diploma. In addition to my graduation day, my self-image had improved. I graduated with honor and that was one of the happiest days of my life. My achievement and my supports made me realized that I could succeed in college. People congratulated me and made me feel confident.
In middle school I took high school courses, so I could get ahead. I was dedicated to my studies making honor roll every report card. Senior year I was invited to a meeting to honor the students graduating in the top 15% of our
Learning challenges and empowers me. Everyday that I go to school, I go with an open mind, ready to be the best I can be. This is why I challenge myself with courses that I know will be difficult, not because I want to set myself up for failure, but because I believe in myself. I know how valuable these difficult courses are, because they require dedication and passion. School is a place where my voice was heard.
With the additional help of my parents and teachers and using strategies for studying and organization, my grades improved. In my eighth grade year I was able to make the principal’s list, a reward for a student who earned more A’s than
