Should college athletes get paid? People have been asking this question for many years and people still don’t know the answer to it. That are people who are for paying athletes while there’s also a group that are against, some of the people that are for paying athletes are ex-college players and coaches and the people that are against are mostly people that work for the NCAA. Many people have different points of view on rather the athletes should get paid. There is some sport analysis that thinks that college athletes shouldn’t be paid for many reasons, one reason is the fact that the athletes already receive a free scholarship and they believe that covers for all the money they bring in from competitions.

College athletes are some of the most hardworking People in any workforce or job, yet they do not receive any form of compensation for their efforts. If college athletes were getting paid, more than likely other students would have to pay more in tuition and in other fees. Athletes getting paid would create the misunderstanding that getting an education would be less important than trying to get involved in a sport. The importance of academics would go straight down the drain. Along with all of these points, the majority of college athletes already technically get paid through scholarship money.

But most do not have a steady source of income to pay for these things. A big conflict going on between colleges, the sports associations, and the college athletes is if these athletes should be getting paid for playing sports. As an athlete, I put in 3 or more hours of work daily for my sport, from practice, training, and watching film. I do all this for the love of the game, not so that one day I can go to college and compete to get paid the highest and have that be my main focus rather than my development as a player. Being paid would bring conflict to sports people once loved.

With also having school work on top of everything. I feel that student athletes should get paid because it can be very hard for them to find time for a job so that they can earn money. It can be very difficult for student athletes to work a job into their schedule because of the games, practices and school work that they may have. When college students, parents come to watch college sports, it is the student athletes who are the main attraction. When you have good players, people will want to watch more games and pay more to get into and watch the games.

Taking a look at the average college student, should they be paid for what they are studying? Probably not. Then why should college athletes be paid? They shouldn 't get paid just because of their athletic ability. They shouldn 't be paid because they are students, not professionals.

The million dollar question; should college athletes be paid? This is an immense debate, but if you were to ask me, I would say yes, college athletes should be paid. There are a plethora of reasons why college athletes should get paid. College athletes should get paid because of the amount of time they put into their sport, the amount of money everyone else is making off of them, and their overall importance to the school. There are a myriad of reasons that people can argue the opposite way, but, the reasons they should get paid definitely outweigh the reasons they shouldn’t get paid.

Should college athletes be paid? I think they should. I found three main reason why other people and myself think that college athletes deserve pay. One, you can just pay the sports that produce the most revenue. Two, these student athletes put in lots of work and even sometimes have to miss class to go to the sports event.
