On August 6, 1945 the United States ordered to drop a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, a city in Japan. The bomb instantly killed between 70,000 and 80,000 people but due to the radiation more people suffered death after the attack. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was known as “Little Boy” which was the first atomic bomb created. The plane that had dropped the bomb was known as the Enola Gay a B-29 bomber flown by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets. On August 9, 1945 the second nuclear bomb was dropped by the US on Nagasaki. This bomb was called, “Fat Man” because it had instantly killed more than 70,000 people and from the radiation that was left behind more people ended up dieing from tragic burns or diseases. What lead the US to drop the nuclear bomb? Before the attack had even occurred the United States demanded Japan unconditionally surrendered to end World War 2. Japan simply denied the option which lead the United States to proceed with the Manhattan project (creation of the bombs). The US president Harry S. I believe the US only cared about the amount of loss of their soldiers and didn't think about how many innocent lives they were going to kill in Japan. These people shouldn't have to pay the price because their military didn't want to surrender instead the US should've targeted military bases. Studies have shown radiation penetrated deeply into the human body which causes body cells to be injured resulting in cell death or inhibited cell division. The radiation caused many more deaths and created problems to those who lived. After the attack many suffered loss of hair, anemia, bleeding, and loss of white cells. Cancer was also more likely to be caused which the most common types were thyroid, breast, lungs and salivary glands. Another major problem caused was birth defects such as
