Globalization in the past 80 years has connected our world exceptionally well compared to the years before. Just under 80 years ago, when World War II ended, people saw an opportunity to grow together and learn from past mistakes. Globalization has brought the world together which has caused poverty rates to go down, work systems to become stronger leading to more accessibility, and overall life expectancy to increase. Globalization has forever changed the ways of the world and will continue to benefit people by bringing us together to become one substantial world. Globalization has benefited our world involving the decrease in poverty rates.

A nation’s culture is affected by several factors, whether it be the language they speak or the clothes they wear. Culture is important to a nation because it gives them identity and something to base their lives off from. In the United States, one business has helped to define their culture, the Coca-Cola Company. Coca-Cola was invented in 1886 by John S. Pemberton in his backyard. He sold his drink to Jacobs Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia.

Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world. The most common example of globalization might be Ebay or Amazon. Nowadays flows of goods and services are not only cheap and fast, but reliable and secure.

The process of globalization, and its impact on economic growth have become the defining influence on the development of modern China. China 's integration into the global economic system has been a multifaceted and complex process, and one that China appears exceptionally eager to embrace. Encompassing domestic policy shifts, engagement with both global and regional institutions, as well as bilateral agreements with various countries, globalization has been an impressively orchestrated process initiated by the very top of the CCP. While advocates of globalization tout the growth of China as proof of its merits, analyzing the actual effects on the ground reveals a much more nuanced reality. Globalization has undoubtedly brought China more wealth and power, but it has also generated a host of other effects, both positive and negative.

The two course readings that I have selected for this assignment are “The Political Economy of Globalization by Layna Mosley” and “Making Globalization Work” by Joseph Stiglitz. The title that I have selected for this essay is “Globalization and the end of the nation state” due to the fact that the readings by Layna Mosley and Joseph Stiglitz will help me address the impact of globalization in both the developing and developing nation. For instance, globalization may have a positive impact on a developed nation and can have a negative impact on a developing nation. Market structures describe the competitive environment in which a firm operates. The characteristics of the market structure will have a major-influence on the competitive strategies and tactics that are implemented by firms. (Octotutor, 2014). For the purpose of this analysis, I have chosen to analyze the Coco-Cola Company, which operates in an oligopoly. This type of market has many implications for both consumers and competing firms.

1.2. Product Differentiation This refers to differentiation that aspires to make a product more attractive by contrasting its unique qualities with other competing products (Investopedia, 2015:1), as in the case of Coca-Cola, other soft drink brands. Successfully adopting this strategy would have a company gaining a competitive advantage, as the customer would then view the product as unique or superior. This is what coca cola has managed to do, and has managed to do it on a scale that is globally unique, and globally recognized.

3.1 Explain how products are developed to sustain competitive advantage There are three levels of coca cola’s products. They are core product, actual product and augmented product. Core product Coca cola’s products are high quality standards for the customer.

In the carbonated soft drinks industry, Coke Cola and Pepsi Co are the biggest players in the market for aerated beverages. Both the companies have been competing strongly against each other for decades. The market is dominated by these two industry leaders with a total market share of 72%; Coke’s market share is 42% and Pepsi’s 30%. This is known as an oligopoly market; where there are few large firms competing with each other in the industry. Since both the company’s market share so large, the market is very close to a duopoly (other players having a very small impact on the market).

HISTORY & BACKGROUND OF COCA COLA 
 The Coca Cola company is known as one of the world’s largest carbonated soft drinks company that began before World War II. It is an American-based company found in 1886 by an Atlanta pharmacist. Dr. John S. Pemberton created the formula of French Wine Coca, which is known as Coca Cola now and introduced the carbonated soft drink as a patent medicine at first. The beverage became more noticeable when Frank M. Robison, Dr. Pemberton’s partner changed the product name and created the famous script logo, which he believed that will attract customer in advertising.
