My hypothesis was correct because Diet Pepsi has the least amount of soda left in the bottle of the explosion out of Coke, Root Beer, Fanta, and Soda water. According to the data table Diet Pepsi had the smallest amount of soda left in the bottle, it had 620 mL left. I think my hypothesis was correct because like stated in the hypothesis, Diet Pepsi contains potassium benzoate, aspartame, and the carbonation which react to mentos. Specifically, the tiny pores in the mentos which helps the geyser form. Though, the other sodas tested contained carbonation, potassium benzoate and aspartame, have a role in the reaction to the
Alka-Seltzer is a medical drug that works as a pain reliever and an antacid. The pain reliever used is aspirin and the antacid used is baking soda. When sodium bicarbonate dissolves in water it splits apart into sodium and bicarbonate ions. The bicarbonates reacts with hydrogen ions from citric acid to form carbon dioxide gas and water. This is how the bubbles are made.

The lab started off by measuring critical materials for the lab: the mass of an an empty 100 mL beaker, mass of beaker and copper chloride together(52.30 g), and the mass of three iron nails(2.73 g). The goal of this experiment is to determine the number of moles of copper and iron that would be produced in the reaction of iron and copper(II) chloride, the ratio of moles of iron to moles of copper, and the percent yield of copper produced. 2.00 grams of copper(II) chloride was added in the beaker to mix with 15 mL of distilled water. Then, three dry nails are placed in the copper(II) chloride solution for approximately 25 minutes. The three nails have to be scraped clean by sandpaper to make the surface of the nail shiny; if the nails are not clean, then some unknown substances might accidentally mix into the reaction and cause variations of the result.

They bubble in water releasing the gas, but do not react in cooking oil because there is no carbon dioxide. They react best in whatever substance has the most carbon dioxide. That is why it reacts well in water, and soda. You can also do another experiment with Pop Rocks.

In order to find out if temperature controls the rate of chemical reaction, whether hot water is a more effective way to make the gas produce at a faster speed, it would be necessary to compare the results of different temperatures at the end of each trial. Senses: How we Identify Different Flavors of Food Aim: To be able to identify the five different fruit flavors of skittles by using the sense of taste, while the participants of this experiment are blindfolded. Research Question: How are we able to identify the five different fruit flavors of skittles (strawberry, orange, grape, lime, and lemon) by only using our sense of taste? Hypothesis: I believe that the blind fold will make it harder for the participants to determine what fruit flavored skittle they have just ingested. This may also alter their perception of taste.

Sugars are converted to ethyl alcohol when fermentation happens. In this experiment we determined if yeast cells undergo fermentation when placed in a closed flask with no oxygen. Glucose and yeast are mixed together in a closed flask and allowed to incubate for about one hour.
