Essay 1 Every year about a third of what the world produces is wasted. This equates to 2.9 trillion pounds of food. The wastage comes from our homes, restaurants, and even the farmers who produce it. Food wastage is an epidemic with dangerous outcomes; from deforestation to the draining of our fresh-water bodies, the population is in trouble.

The author of American Wasteland, Jonathan Bloom, uses many techniques to steer readers in his direction. Bloom talks about a big issue concerning American in 2010 and is still an issue today in 2016, six years after he wrote this book. As a result of broad research, the main issue today is expiration dates and how state regulations and laws promote food waste (Linnekin). As other books, articles, and documentaries explain this issue they use evidence, positive and negative connotations, and bias to connect with a general audience or supporters.

In a country that wastes billions of pounds of food each year, it's almost shocking that anyone in America goes hungry. Yet every day, there are millions of children and adults who do not get the meals they need to thrive. We work to get nourishing food – from farmers, manufacturers, and retailers – to people in need. At the same time, we also seek to help the people we serve build a path to a brighter, food-secure future.

He lets consumers know that just because he's a homeless person it doesn't mean that his opinion shouldn't matter but he knows about the circumstances because he was once a consumer and he gives insight of both sides. $ 31 billion worth of food is trashed every year in Canada. We on average throw out 1 in 5 bags of groceries. Many commercial companies and our government are ignoring this problem while the rest of the world has started to take action. Behind a Walmart store there is roughly 12 bins of consumable food thrown out. Not into the compost but into the garbage.

Everyday people buy plastic things from the cafeteria, from plastic containers, lids on cups, and things as small as straws, and like 50% of plastic used it will be thrown away after one use. However, do you ever stop and think, what happens to the plastic? If you’re thinking that it just magically goes away you 're wrong. It will most likely end up in a landfill somewhere or in the ocean, and as you may think that your actions do not impact the world, think again. Everyone in the world has at least used one piece of plastic, adding to the problem of plastic pollution and helping certifying the terrifying statisticc that acooording to the 2018 Earth day video, “by 2050 there will more plastic in the ocean than fish”, which almost is impossible to think of.

What is Veganism? A way of life that adopts a Vegan diet and believes harming animals for meat or products is wrong. Yet, people say vegans are the inhumane and unreasonable ones. Think about where the animals come from. They are not grazing around in a green field.

Food can be bought and wasted because of the ample amounts bought. Although, one may not give to the poor people of the world, food can be gone to compost, or can be used to make new food. Many belittle the fact that food waste is harmful to society. The second article, “How Norway is selling out-of-date food to help tackle waste” By Daniel Boffey shows A supermarket in Norway which is dedicated to selling expired and old food.

Hunger in America “The war against hunger is truly mankind’s war of liberation.”-John F. Kennedy. This war against hunger can be found in all corners of the globe. The United States of America stands by as one of the strongest proprietors of feeding the hungry of the world, yet millions of Americans are going hungry each day.

Since the animals carry diseases and we are eating it, human health has potentially decreased due to the increase of disease being spread. Additionally, factory farms are having negative impacts on our environment. “Hog, chicken, and cattle waste has polluted 35,000 miles of rivers in 22 states and contaminated groundwater in 17 states” (Organic Consumers Association). It is shown how these factory farms are contaminated the land around us due to the waste produced by these animals and the unsanitary dispose of such

Many people don’t get the chance to survive and live to have a horrible death. Many people here in the U.S. don’t think that survival is important in other countries. I believe that in order to have a better world, everyone needs to survive and that means ending world hunger. Do you know when your next meal could be the last? Eight hundred fifteen million people don’t have the food they need because they have no job, natural disaster has struck them or they live in very poor spots of the world.

The world is experiencing a dilemma today. Many people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and other problems caused by the lack of sufficient food. However, many other people buy or order excessive foods and waste a lot. In my community, food waste is much more serious than food shortage, and it is easy to see that people throw foods in the dustbin and the foods indeed are still eatable. Food waste is a serious problem.

Now we are talking about recycling. So, what actually does recycling means? Turning used materials that are labeled as recyclable over to your local waste facility designated in a disposal container as “recyclable” materials to be taken and reused as material for a new purpose defines recycling . In order to create a new and different product, a recyclable product is turned back into a raw form that can be used. Recycling efforts can significantly reduce additional waste that will not only harm the planet today , but future generations as well.

Do you ever think about the millions of families and kids that suffer from not being able to have food? You should be very grateful if you have a family to provide food for you because not every kid does. Hunger is a term which has three meanings: •The uneasy or painful sensation caused by the want of food; craving appetite. Also, the exhausted condition caused by the want of food.

Introduction People tend to consume a lot, when there is consumption, there is waste – and that waste becomes a big problem that needs taken care of, which costs a lot of time, space and resources. If not managed, in turn, the world that we live in will become a hazardous place for all living things. According to the World Bank, people throughout the world, “spend $2.3 trillion a year on food and beverages alone” (Global Consumption Database, 2018), that is quite a lot. In addition to that, the world count mentions that, “we throw out over 50 tons of household waste every second. A number that will double by 2030”
