Stephanie Crowe was 12 years old when she was found murdered. On January 21, 1998 Stephanie's grandma Judith Kennedy woke up to an alarm coming from Stephanie’s room that wasn’t turned off. Judith went to see why Stephanie wasn’t shutting it off. At 6:30am Stephanie Crowe was found murdered in her room, stabbed 9 times. Richard Raymond Tuite was seen running around town about the time Stephanie was murdered. Tuite was knocking on neighbors doors. He was asking for a woman named Tracy. Wearing a red sweatshirt, they wouldn’t notice any blood spots with the naked eye. After the police questioned and dismissed him they confiscated his red sweatshirt just in case. Months passed before they decided to check for any blood. Blood was found on the sweatshirt, so testing had to be done. After a while the results came back showing it belonged to Stephanie, but many days passed before Tuite was charged with the murder. After that, the case went to trial again. They were hoping they could get Tuite out without any charges. They even tested a bag that Dennis had taken inside his fathers office on July 6th and came up with nothing. No blood was found on Dennis' Cell phone either. Dennis jacket was then inspected and 5 red spot had been identified. After testing these spots were confirmed to be blood that matched the DNA profile of Richard Oland. On January 29, 1991, a vile crime occurred in the Heikkila home in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Twenty-year-old Matthew Heikkila, the adopted son of Richard and Dawn Heikkila loaded up a “sawed-off 20-gauge shotgun” (Sullivan).
