However, when an individual assumes when little details about a group are displayed; misconceptions are made and can be passed down making it difficult to convince individuals that they are untrue. Misconceptions about athletes from a wide variety are very common one of which is about female runners.

Introduction In today’s society, it’s hard to not come across stereotypes placed on others by others. And when I make reference to others I mean, media and ourselves as groups of friends and companions. Most of these single sided views and ideas stem from small truths. However these truths are somewhat altered and exaggerated ideas given a negative outlook/ perception.

Imagine being perceived in a way were almost everyone thought one lived a catastrophic life based on the school they went to. A stereotype is an image of a person or group of people that is labeled or seen in a specific way by a range of people. Stereotypes form from the way someone talks to the group they are in. While misconceptions are formed from people assuming what the others personality is, but it is not the truth. This belief is completely irrational since we are generalizing this group of people as terrorists when in fact most are not. This stereotype can cause some to feel unspoken bias towards them. Another typically example would be when you see an African American or Mexican you might assume they are dangerous and involved in illegal activities.

Stereotypes are simple images or beliefs over the attributes assigned to a particular social group, are models of behavior that become schemes deeply rooted in our mentalities to the point that we adopt them as part of human naturalness. Stereotypes can be racial, religious, sexual and social. These could be the caused of a known incident or attitude years earlier, or simply the result of frequent rumors. Stereotypes can affect different spheres of society. These assumptions can filter into many aspects of life.

All Asians are good at math, all blondes are dumb, all Muslims are terrorists - these are all common stereotypes. Without even realizing it, stereotypes have undeniably played an enormous role in individual lives. Minds seem to already set a certain image in them based on the people they encounter. People judge others by their skin tone, ethnicity, and physical appearance unconsciously, and this have been proven by many social experiments. Of course, though these stereotypes might be accurate at times, there are situations where they are completely defied.

People get categorized by stereotypes everyday just by outward appearances or the group of people they are associated with. A stereotype is a preconceived notion about a group of people. People form fixed images of a group that are assumed that all group members act and behave is a particular way. A person essentially gets stereotyped by being “guilty by association” of a particular group. All stereotypes get based off of a bit of truths that all group members similarly have.

Stereotype are a big issues in today society, some people overestimate other just knowing where are they from or what religion they follow. I have heard many times people overestimate other with stereotype like “all the Jews help themselves” and “all the Asians are good at math”. However, as well as overestimated stereotype underestimated stereotype has negative effects on people, stereotype like “Women do not know how to drive” and “Black Dudes Are Super Violent By Nature” are two that I have listen the most. There are many people that fail judging an entire culture by the behavior of some of their people. I think that analyzing, knowing and being in the shoes of others are 3 steps to overcome underestimated and overestimated stereotyped thinking.

Stereotypes are our daily routine. There are are our daily routine basically because there's always that someone you know that stereotypes everyday. It happens everyday outside school, or in home, etc. stereotype happens everyday and everywhere. Stereotype can bring people down and others may not because we all have different capacities, and different thoughts of looking at things.
