Steven Avery

Stephen F. Austin was born on November 3, 1793, in southwestern Virginia. Five years later, his father, Moses Austin, moved his family to southeastern Missouri. He was sent to Connecticut for schooling around the age of 10 or 11. After this, he attended Transylvania University, which is in Lexington, Kentucky, for two years. Young Stephen was fairly successful, so much so that he even began worked alongside his father, Moses, in various business ventures.

Throughout the trial Steven claimed he had nothing to do with the assault, however, he was still found guilty. In 2002, the Wisconsin Innocence Project took Avery's case. As a result of improvements in DNA testing, they were able to exonerate Avery in 2003 based on DNA evidence indicating that someone other than Avery committed the crime. The DNA was matched to one Gregory Allen.

After reading the first 10 chapters it makes you wonder why would the police and prosecutors go this far just to see this man in prison. How can the law in enforcement play with somebody's “freedom” like it's a game or a joke…?

Dennis Brown, and James Harden, are two examples of this, and can relate because of it. They’ve been falsely convicted, without DNA evidence, but the truth of the case is finally revealed with their release. Dennis Brown, a black male from Louisiana, has been one of many people that have been wrongfully convicted without proper DNA evidence. First off, he’s been falsely convicted of rape and burglary.

On November 3rd Teresa’s family reports her missing and an investigation begins. November 5th volunteer searchers find Halbach’s vehicle hidden behind auto parts and brush in Avery’s salvage yard. After the 4th day of searching Steven Avery’s home, police found a spare key to Teresa’s car, bone fragments and teeth in a fire pit, and Avery’s blood inside the vehicle. Many people would believe as soon as the evidence was found this case would’ve been a no brainer, which is until you look closely at the evidence
