Student Case Study
I have chosen an eleven-year-old Hispanic American female student for my case study. Anna is in my homeroom class and in the 6th grade. In the classroom, she has various seating arrangements due to her behavior issues; talking, touching, eating, not in her seat, etc. She sits at the front of the room and next to my desk. She was not alienated from the rest of the students, but it is best that she has only other student sitting beside her instead as opposed two to minimize contact with other students during instruction. Honestly, this was done primarily to keep her from being disruptive to the other classmates that surrounded her.
The behavior plan that I intend to implement throughout this case study will deal with her progress, assignments in class as well as her ability to leave other students’ alone. I anticipate to witness a vast improvement in her grades once it is in place. I expect her academic progress to improve of her homework being

I will also give her a notepad with the days of the week on it. I will explain to her that each time I observe her doing her work and not bothering other students in the class, she will receive a happy face on that day. At the end of the wee, she will be allowed to have 5 minutes of free time if she has at least 3 or more stamps the week. At the end of the week if she has stamps on all 5 of her sheets f, she will be allowed to choose one thing such as lunch-line pass, a prize, etc. to reward her for her good behavior throughout the week. If she misses a day where she gets no stamps, she cannot get the prize at the end of the week. If she breaks a rule or is disruptive during class, she will be given a conduct mark as well as a sad face on her notepad for the day. Each week the sheet will go home to her parents for them to sign and
When looking at her school work and from the information that was previously gathered from sessions with Hailey, it was important to assess her as an oral reader, silent reader, writer, word solver, problem solver, and her comprehension. Using a variety of assessments and taking the new information and planning to help Hailey be more successful was important. Also, looking at how Hailey performs across academic areas was another clue to help her be a better student. To have a better picture of Hailey, she brought her academic folders with her to review some of her class work and writing responses, almost like a work portfolio. Hailey made it clear that Science and Math can be more difficult for her than other
Her only argument point was she never gets in trouble. Since she never gets in trouble she could have one slip up and her teacher would understand or she could not do her project as well. I still believe that she should do her own
She will help students in the long run change their perspective and change their
Although adolescence and young adulthood are generally healthy times of life, several important public health and social problems either peak or start during these years (Healthy People, 2015). For this discussion, I selected the scenario involving an adolescent Hispanic/Latino boy living in a middle-class suburb. When performing the health history interview of an adolescent many factors must be considered. Practitioner must also keep an open mind and respect patient cultural beliefs and values. “Family, religious beliefs, communication, and health beliefs have been noted in the literature as important cultural influences for Hispanic patients” (Hicks, 2012).
In school again was the second time she faced an obstacle that stems from her race. This was known as opposition. It seems that educational facilities are the brunt of her problems. “At Pan American University, I and all Chicano students were required to take two speech classes. Their purpose: to get rid of our accents”.
Hispanics overcoming challenges by: Tejas Kar Many people from all over the world have overcome many challenges. For example, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandala, Abraham Lincoln and minor people like Rosa Parks. Many other people, like Hispanics have also overcome a wide varied of challenges.
The Hispanic Student Association, or HSA for short, was founded in 1999 by Nestor "Ito" Rodriguez the former president of HSA. Who is now currently the head of the Hispanic alumni council and married to Jaclyn Rodriguez. The organization is located on the main campus in the university center (UC) through the involvement zone in room 221. The purpose of HSA is to spread and demonstrate to other students the marvels of the Hispanic culture and to enrich their minds of the cultural diversity that is around them. To accomplish this HSA does many social events and gatherings, such as the St. Jude walk/run and Hispanic heritage month, which allows students of any background to come and enjoy the Hispanic culture in a safe and discrimination free
Born and raised in Santa Barbra California, Peter Giovani Petatan have lived 21 years of his life in the U.S. along with his mother and father who were born and raised in Mexico. Although born and raised in California Peter and his family currently reside in Macon, GA. Now as a college student this has been the first time he has ever lived outside of home. Nevertheless, he feels as if he’s able to adapt to this new environment effortlessly in terms of the university and community.
the article written by Claudio Sanchez, it is stated that researchers have determined that Mexican American toddlers do not develop as quickly as Anglo American children. Mexican American children have a delayed development in their ability to speak, read and the development of their senses. I can look back on how many times my parents read to me, engaged me in their conversations and interacted with me; and see the positive affects it had on me. However, my younger cousins did not have to same interaction with adults and only engaged with children of their own age. As a result, I see a difference in how much slower they are developing than I did.
Accreditation Agency: All Klein ISD schools are accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The Texas Education Agency is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The mission of TEA is to provide leadership, guidance and resources to help schools meet the educational needs of all students. The curriculum followed by TEA is periodically updated by the State Board of Education and is known as TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and skills).

While doing my practicum hours at the YMCA, I have observed a very diverse group of children that attend our after-school program. The biggest portion of children are hispanic, we also have a good amount of african american children. After this we have a few caucasian children, and a few asian children. Seeing as how there are more hispanic children, this is the group that I mostly work with at the YMCA. Their ages range from 4 to 11 and each of them are very different.
Carla’s tantrums and destructive behavior continues to be problematic in her other classes as well. A behavior intervention needs to be put in place that will help Carla’s behavior decrease. So, we first use a behavioral assessment which will include direct observation and then recording the behavior as it occurs (Miltenberger, 2016). I would start out by having interviews with Carla and her parents along with the teachers that are involved. We would discuss Carla’s behavior and figure out what her target behavior.
The school will encourage learners to do their best academically and to adhere to the code of conduct in order to avoid an outbreak of chaos. Schools generally reward students based on their academic achievements. An example from my schooling experience would be during my primary school years. Students were placed classrooms depending on their academic status and behaviour. There was the “clever class”, the “naughty class”, the “try-hard class” and the “don’t-try-at-all class”.
During both observation days there was no behavior problems. It was a well obtained class, and I am excited to continue participating in this classroom. One student during the classes library visit came up and gave me a big hug. He would not let go for the longest time. This class has a special place in my heart and I only been in there two times.
