Substance Abuse Persuasive Speech

Hi Noshaba, Thank you for your presentation. You have a very profound question as to the role of physical therapists in opioid addiction. It reminded me of the very inspiring words of the APTA president, Dr. Sharon Dunn (American Physical Therapy Association [APTA], 2015). I would like to quote what she said: “Physical therapists can help individuals manage pain, and greater use of physical therapy could make a real impact on the tragic levels of drug abuse in this country- abuse that often begins with a prescription for pain medication. Efforts like these are at the heart of what we mean when we talk about the transformative power of physical therapy.”

A couple fellow classmates in high school and college were always taking some kind of pills. Myself not knowing much about drugs, I thought they were prescribed. Later, I found out that they weren’t prescribed. My classmates were using them for themselves and also distributing to other students. I never spoke up about it, since I never witnessed the distribution but rumors go around.

All over America, teens in high school and even middle school can be found vaping. Teens are far more likely to vape as they feel pressure to fit in and be cool. Therefore, teen vaping is a problem because it can lead to future health problems, the e-cigarette industry is not fully regulated, and it can lead to nicotine addiction. Vaping as an adolescent can lead to health issues in the future. E-cigarette liquid still contains the chemical nicotine.

My name is Austin Gansert. I am a high school student at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, CA. I am writing you today to talk about a very controversial topic: the legal drinking age. I believe that there are many benefits to having a lower drinking age of 18, rather than the current drinking age of 21. There are many benefits to having a lowered drinking age, which I will explain in this letter.

Relevance: drug abuse is a growing epidemic especially here in Ohio, which is ranked 2nd worst overdose rates in the united states. Credibility: multiple of my family members have been addicted to drugs and i have first hand experience of how drug abuse can affect someone's life, and how rehab affects people addicted to drugs vs how prison affects people addicted to drugs. Thesis & Preview: as a result of the growing drug epidemic in the United States, thousands die every year. There are many proposed solutions for this problem such as decriminalization, rehab, prison, and even the death penalty.

If users were well-informed of the ingredients inside an e-cigarette then perhaps it would decrease the popularity among high school students. The production and promotion of e-cigarettes should be illegal and banned. The tremendous increase in the number of nicotine users is not only shocking but terrifying as it has attracted a surplus amount of teens, "E-cigarette use among U.S. youth and young adults is now a major public health concern. Starting from the beginning, I will tell you what marijuana - also called grass, ganja, pot, and various other slang terms - is. Marijuana comes from the Indian hemp plant and is the greenish-brown mixture of the dried flowers of cannabis sativa. When I was younger I used to believe that speaking positively about Marijuana, makes you look like a bad personage or either worse, a criminal. This opinion was based on the false information media produced and on the government laws of my country. However, by enhancing my knowledge, I have decided that cannabis offers so much to humanity, that not only it has many benefits, it has to be legalized.

Persuasive Speech: Mental Illness Generally when people think if the word illness they think of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hemophilia, etc. These are all physical illnesses. Not many people realize that mental illnesses are also just as impactful on lives. One in four people suffer from mental disorder today, however few receive help; only 50% of the ill receive proper treatment.

Dont Smoke For Our Sake For many years smoking cigarettes has been legal to smoke in public places. Would you allow this to continue even knowing the harm and dangers it can bring people who smoke and even people who don 't? Imagine being in a nice family friendly park on a sunny, summer day.

Alcohol, the go to drink to every teenager on weekends. If you are a teenager and you have not tried it, well your time will come soon. Having the taste of either juice or something strong in your mouth to loosen you up, who would say no to that? If you have no tried alcohol yet or it is not yet an addiction for you, then what are you waiting for? Alcohol will put your life into place and it will make things so much more fun for you without any hard work.

No matter what kind of depression you have, the pain is the same-caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. No matter what you 're depressed about, or even if you don 't know why you 're depressed, there are some simple things you can do to reduce your pain and anxiety, and get yourself feeling better. Simple cognitive behavior techniques and exercises can lessen pain and stimulate more productive thinking. Low-key physical and mental activity can also speed recovery.
