Gatto became a schoolteacher because according to him he had nothing better to do, he is an English teacher but he says the he doesn’t only teach English; he teaches school. His students learn seven lessons for life and they are things that can easily be criticized by others who do not understand them and make assumptions. The first is the lesson of Confusion. There is a lack of connection between the curriculum that students are taught and it’s just thrown at them. It causes great confusion in the minds of the kids. The second Lesson is the lesson of Class Position and how they must stay in the same class and not try to change. Indifference is the third, he would get his students totally involved and consumed by the lesson of the day. He still allows them to go because then they have to depend on him for any freedom that they are given. Compare and Contrast Essay There Will Come Soft Rains and Harrison Bergeron, by Kurt Vonnegut and Ray Bradbury,are both very famous stories written in the science fiction/Dystopian genre. Due to both their eerie foreshadowing for the future, both have a feeling of apprehension over the reader. Even though the both stories have different messages, there are important similarities between how they are shown, and how they relate to everything. With the authors using the settings that they did, it played a key role in setting the tone.

In the book Twerp by Mark Goldblatt, a character named Julian Twerski who is a 12 year old attending Public School 23. Julian isn’t much of a bully, but he made a mistake. After returning to school from Winter break, he learns that he’s been suspended. His English teacher, Mrs. Selkick offers him a deal; if he keeps a journal and writes about the terrible incident that occurred, then he can skip out on a chance to write a report on Shakespeare, so Julian jumped at the deal.
These lessons are self-sacrifice, hidden miracles, and taking things for granted. I will explain why I feel like these were key take aways in the movie. Self-sacrifice is defined as giving up one’s own interest or wishes in order to help others or to advance a cause. In the movie, Simon was born into a family that didn’t want him because he was born with health difficulties. His parents do not care what he does due to the fact that he wasn’t even supposed to live longer than a week.
The essay intends to persuade and provoke the reader. By using non-statistical based evidence Gatto manages to build a solid case for their being problems with the education system, however, his solution to these problems is incredibly lackluster. The solution Gatto presents is simply for the reader to teach their own children, rather than have them schooled. The problem with this is that this solution will only ever apply to people who read Gatto’s essay, it fixes none of the problems with the education system. The lackluster solution is even more sad since Gatto presents good evidence that the issues are systemic, and by ignoring a potential solution the essay reads more like a consumer warning than a serious treatise on the education

In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, many events take place in the small town would absolutely not happen in the current day. Many things have changed since the early 1900’s and they make the world of Maycomb County very different from our own. Some things that were commonplace back then are now accepted as morally wrong and other things have just changed over the years. Scout, Jem, and Dill are very adventurous and they spend lots of time walking all around town by themselves.
The three central ideas about learning and teaching that stood out to me were the idea that students start with pre- existing knowledge, that teachers must work with student's pre-existing knowledge, and that the teacher must focus on why content is important and what mastery of content looks like. The reason the first two stood out to me is because many teachers, especially in my career as a student, use a single method to teach several students. As discussed in class, all students have some form of knowledge about the world the come from. That being said, each student has a unique outlook and interpretation. When students go to a class and are given assessments where only a few can relate to, it hinders the process of learning.
