The main point in this book is that money isn't the key to happiness and that is what The Glass Castle showcased. The book is showing that you can dream bigger even though you might not achieve those dreams. The beginning of the book was a part where the author introduced the characters which were Jeannette Walls, Rex Walls, Rose Mary Walls, Lori Walls, Maureen Walls , and Brian Walls. The main setting in the beginning was them in a little house that was very run down.

It is well known that most people would consider a billionaire to be successful. On the other hand, a person impoverished would not be considered successful by most. In the memoir The Glass Castle, author Jeannette Walls tells her story of growing up with her parents Rose Mary and Rex Walls. Rose Mary and Rex Walls are not successful parents because they can’t support their children. Both parents are unsuccessful because they have trouble providing food for their children every day.

The Glass Castle by: Jeannette Walls Jeannette Walls has a very rough childhood. To living in a RV to a car to a house, to a shack that's crumbling apart. She has a drunk as a father and a mother with some psychological issues making them useless as parents. Jeannette also has a brother and two sisters. The brother is named Brian the sisters are named Lori and Maureen.

Introduction: The glass castle by Jeannette Walls is the book I chose to read for our summer reading assignment. The glass castle is about 3, eventually 4 kids who have always been told to chase their dreams no matter what happens or where it takes them. The parents which consists of a selfish mom who does stuff to benefit her own needs and a dad who’s a drunk, live by this quote and unfortunately chasing their dream leads them to live their life in poverty, filled with lies, misery, and struggle but with a little hard work, and perseverance the walls children flourish. Summary: The story starts off with little Jeannette walls at the age of three making herself a hotdog.

The Glass Castle is a nonfiction book that was later turned into a movie. The book was written by Jeannette Walls, and the book is about her life. This story is about family dynamics. The Walls family moved around often and each member had their own set of difficulties. I think the book was turned into a movie for two reasons: the book is not appropriate for younger readers and not everyone wants to or has the time to read a book.

“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.” The Glass Castle is a spectacular forthcoming book, it is a true eye opener by showing people a look into the life of Jeannette Walls. She didn’t have it easy at all, she reveals growing up poverty-stricken living in harsh conditions, her family could barely afford food and sometimes went days without eating or drinking anything. However Jeannette Walls’s father was an alcoholic who couldn’t hold down a decent job and her mother well, she was nonchalant and free-spirited who seemed to not care of what happened to her children. The memoir allows readers to be able to step into someone else’s shoes and see what it was like to be in the same situations the author went through

Jeanette’s childhood was shameful due to her parents careless way of living. Throughout The Glass Castle Jeannette hides her childhood just like she from her mother because she is ashamed of what people might think. Jeannette Walls lived a tough childhood because of her parents. They were always moving around trying to find a place to build a glass castle. They never gave any of their children a set home while they were growing up.

It was getting harder. ”(169) Jeannette’s trust and love in her father is getting very small, because of the way he abuses alcohol and lets her down. When Jeanette tells us that she believes she is a fool for believing in Rex, it shows a change in her town to be unbelieving and critical. Throughout The Glass Castle, Jeanette’s tone of Rex Walls goes from very trusting to very disbelieving.

Jeanette wanted to escape Welch because of her unstable lifestyle, but she had fully given up on her parents. As she created her plan to escape, she said: “I had been counting on Mom and Dad to get us out, but I now knew I had to do it on my own” (Walls 221). At the end of the book, we can also see that the heroine of the book always had faith in her father, even when he failed her many times. When he left, she still believed him. Love for a father has never disappeared and will always be an inspiration in her life. In the novel the Glass Castle Jeanette Walls learns from the mistakes of her parents that being successful in life depends of your characters and the choices you make in your life . Jeanette learns from her parents that if she doesn 't start thinking about her future at a young age , she’ll eventually be following the footsteps of her parents, and having an unpurposeful and an unrewarding lifestyle in her future. The Glass Castle suggests that in order to be successful in life you have to leave some things behinds and move on and that exactly what Jeannette Walls has done. Jeanette 's parents mistake was that they never thought about the future and always tried to enjoy the present. She chose to move away from her parents and live with her older sister and that decision she made was the main reason why she succeeded in life.

She struggled with how the society and her family shaped who she was. She was exposed to her family first which made her behave the way she did under her family’s house. Jeanette struggled with her family by taking care of the house, beings told bending the rules is okay and the acceptance of her Mom’s and Dad’s homelessness. When Jeannette left her family and went to live in New York, she becomes an individual. She fends for herself and gets her life together.
