Surreal Mood Of Night By Elie Wiesel

Night is a book where a baby was used as a shooting target. This was one of the first things that started to change Elie Wiesel. Eile Wiesel is the writer and the main character of the book Night. Eile was one of the lucky people who survived the traumatic hardships of the holocaust and who could educate the world about it. Overall, Eile is a dynamic character because his faith, feelings, and mindset changed throughout the book.

Throughout the book, Elie Weisel experiences many horrors which leave him in this state of disgrace. Many experiences such as being uprooted from his home, witnessing countless people die, and seeing his dear father wither and deteriorate strip him of his humanity and faith in God, leaving him a shell of his former self.

In the text Night by Elie Wiesel, Eliezer suffered a full dreadful year in a concentration camp. This allows for lots of changes to him, and his thoughts. Throughout this novel Elie experienced a lot of significant alterations. A couple of main changes include his loss of religion, his reactions to traumatic situations, and his feelings towards his father. Although there are many shifts in Wiesel throughout his time in the concentration camp system, there are three notable quotes where change is present.

Eliezer Changes for the Worse Nelson Mandela once said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” This quote applies to Eliezer because everything that he experienced during the Holocaust seemed impossible. Elie Wiesel’s Night tells the story of a young boy named Eliezer who arrives at Auschwitz and goes through many tough challenges. Eliezer changed for the worse because he lost his faith, saw many horrifying things at a young age, and lost his whole family. Early on in Night, Eliezer lost his mother and his sister, Tzipora.

A dark traumatic event can cause permanent changes in a person. The is quite evident in the Holocaust during WW II. Eliezer Wiesel was a jew in the Holocaust and wrote a book titled Night about his experiences. Wiesel’s torturous experience changed his outlook on his attitude towards others. When Eliezer's book begins he is a very compassionate person.

In the book Night, the first night in camp is the worst experience that happened to Elie. For example, the author knew that the camp is where his nightmare began, “Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night...” (page 34) This illustrates that Wiesel’s life completely changed since he separated from his mother and sister, the camp is where Nazis wanted all faiths and hopes of prisoners are gone to be able to survive in the camp you have to believe, pray and help others. Furthermore, when the narrator said one long night it’s shows that he never see the sun again, which mean Elie thought he couldn’t survive through this camp, it brought all his dreams and his family away.

Due to the horrific circumstances, Elie changed both physically and emotionally. He started to not care about anyone or anything, he thought his father was a burden, an he became very skinny and he thought that his body was holding him back. At the beginning of the story, Night, Elie cared about his father and everyone he knew. He was always making sure that him and his father were doing the right thing.

To begin, interactions define us when we lose faith in others. After the first night in the concentration camp, “I too had become a different person. The student of Talmud, the child I was, had been consumed by the flames”(Wiesel 39). This quote shows us that after one night in a concentration camp, people can be changed by their interactions with others. Elie experienced and witnessed mistreatment of men, women, and children during his first night.

Everyone has hopes and dreams in life. Some people’s dreams can be ruined in very little time. Elie Wiesel changes as a person through Night as a result of his father dying, receiving little food and seeing unpleasant sights. Elie relied on his father for useful advice and some skills. His father taught him many things that stuck with him for the rest of his life.

In the book Night, Elie Wiesel describes his struggles as a Jew in a concentration camp using a depressing and serious tone, meant to reflect the horrific conditions the Jews were forced to face and the theme that adversity can cause a loss in faith. From the time Elie first arrived at the camp and heard everyone saying prayers, to when the young pipel was hung, and even when the Jews had to make the long, arduous, trek to the other camp, the reader could see his faith dwindling as he continued to question where his God was and why he wasn’t helping the Jews. Surviving Death World War II began on September 1, 1939. Hitler believed that because of the Jewish population, Germany lost World War I. Hitler also believed that the only way to restore Germany and as well as avoid losing was by torturing and killing Jews. Hitler's inhumanity towards the Jews was the cause of this mass murder that killed 11 million innocent people. About six million out of eleven million Jews were killed. This was later called the Holocaust.

The struggle for survival was a central theme in each of the week’s works. How does one survive in the face of horror? How does one survive in loneliness? How does one survive in the arms of the enemy? How does one survive with guilt?

The road to a relationship with God is not straight, it is ever changing with challenges and curves and ups and downs. This is a main theme in the memoir Night, by Elie Wiesel, where Elie has a struggling relationship with God. He thinks that God has abandoned him and his dad so he does not feel the need to continue his relationship with God. Elie was excited about his faith but the holocaust makes him feel angry and confused with God. Elie 's faith excites him from a young age and he wants to learn more about God.
