Hope is not lost for our nations veterans, there are initiatives that may be implemented in order to improve the quality of care. We have identified four key areas that we feel will improve the quality of care for our nations veterans. These areas are; Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACTS), the program of vocational rehab, positive media relations, and universal electronic medical records. PACTS are formed when a veteran works together with multiple care disciplines in order to achieve whole person care and sustain life long wellness (VHA, 2015). These teams focus on patient medical partnerships, access to care, coordinated care among disciplines, and team based care with the veteran as the focus (VHA, 2015).

As a Manager it is important to keep your skills, knowledge and practice up to date at all times and this can be achieved by using findings from research, critical reviews and enquiries regards social care. The care we provide must be safe and effective. By looking at the evidence, making a professional judgement, then applying the knowledge when making decisions regards your own practice, we can ensure the care we deliver is done so in a safe way and in a way we are able to account for our actions. In order to work effectively with a service user line mangers, colleagues and families you must be able to meet their needs relationships are also governed by body language facial expression smiling and ways in which others listen and talk to you. If the communication is poor between you and a service user and with your work colleague the care the service user receives will not be right for them if you’re not talking to them or communicating with them how are you going to know what they like or don’t like.

INTRODUCTION The word ‘team’ can be defined as a group of people working together towards a common goal. A team also generally is known as a group of people with different skills and different tasks, who works together on a common project, services, or goal. Then, the important thing in teamwork is ‘collaboration’, which is the act of working effectively with others to achieve a common goal. Collaboration acts as the lifeblood in the team, even the team is not large enough, but the collaboration is required.

In essence, teamwork can be defined as a group of people working in the same direction and for a common purpose. Teamwork requires individuals be a team player and to be able to work well with others; after all, there is no “I” in “Team”! As with any endeavour, we faced some initial setbacks. With this being our first college team assignment, we were all treading on unfamiliar territory.

This was to promote the best care for individual clients. We also work within the Codes Of Practice For Social Care Workers 2002 which states that staff should respect the roles and expertise of workers from other agencies and the need to work in partnership with them. I also work in partnership with the local authority and CQC to ensure the standards of the service are good and meet their requirements. Much discussion is devoted to the literature regarding group work as it remains an integral part of the social work field. Group work is important as “the need to belong is one of the most basic and powerful human needs as well as the most social” (Ashford, & Lecroy, 2008, pg. 140). Group work is found to be an effective intervention and has become a major treatment modality in the mental health services (Knight, 2017; Clements, 2008). This intervention has been found just as effective as an individual intervention (Knight, 2017).
