My name is Ranee Xiong, and I am a Junior at the University of Minnesota, Morris. I am a Human Services major with a Sociology minor. For my final paper for this year, I have to interview a person within this field, and I am wondering if I could interview you for my final paper. Like you, I want to become a school counselor, so I thought it would be great to interview someone who is in the field that I want to be in.

Introduction With a recent increase in presidential power and a new presidential cabinet, concerns have began to arise regarding state rights and independence. One of these concerns is school choice in the form of school vouchers. The use of school vouchers has been a state decision, and Texas has always been a school voucher free state. Not only the national government favors private-school voucher legislation (with Betsy DeVos as the new United States Secretary of Education); so does Texas. Texas’ Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, urges the private-school voucher bill (SB 3) to pass the Texas House (as it has already passed the Senate).

My career goal is to work as a high school counselor, but specifically I want to work with special education students. I would be enthusiastic however to work with any high school students on a professional level. I’ve always knew that my future would involve helping others, and when I was in high school I never had councilor I could talk to openly. My guidance counselor made it clear that she was only there for scheduling and nothing more. She told me when it came time to apply for college that I was wasting my time

Emily has tried the simple common tasks of solutions. She has tried to talk to her fiancée and friends when she gets jealous, but this only can happen over-text and she said many find that it’s too late at that point to help at all. She has tried to talk to the people who cause these emotions or those who make it worse. She said that when she does it makes her feel poorly because it’s her issue and “shouldn’t have to deal with it.” Emily has considered the on-campus counseling that is provided but she states she keeps making excuses for her not to do it.

Like other professions in the mental health field and helping professions, counseling typically attracts those who are imbued with a need to help others, to make a difference in others’ lives, the community around them and sometimes even the world. There are many facets to a counselor and to counseling, some of which take on personal attributes such as personality, the values and beliefs held by counselors, and what they perceive their role in the counseling profession to be. Other facets involve ethical considerations in therapy, the importance of the profession, the value and process of change, important counseling practices and the value of necessary self-care a counselor ought to engage in. The role of a counselor is to act as a conduit to change and wellbeing in a client.

Unable to do anything more to encourage me, my teacher introduced me to the school’s counselor. Meeting frequently with the school counselor, I slowly opened up to her and found a lot of new friends due to her constant support and advice. Emotional Students Emotional disorder is connected to several terms including anxiety disorder and many others or unable to build interpersonal relationships or inappropriate behaviors. We are living in the society where many students face these kinds of difficulties and are unable to convey their message to others or may be student is facing the psychiatrist disorder all of these terms are related to the emotional disorders. We must need to tackle these kinds of situations and make them learn how to communicate with others and survive in the world and compete with others and here are the ways to deal these kinds of students. School Counselors really try their best to make the school environment the best that it could possibly be at the moments. Yes, there is always room for progress but it takes more than just the counselors to make progress. Counselors help improve the student body as a whole. Budget cuts should not affect them due to the importance of their role in the school. Even though counselors have a lot of students, and a lot of actions to portray they will still have time for anyone that

I believe that clinical counseling was what I needed, but I feel it could have been beneficial and helpful to receive support and acknowledgment from the professional school counselors on staff at our school. I believe that even if you feel like you may not be prepared to help a student it is important to at least acknowledge and address a students concern. I did not feel that I had a safe place to go at school when things were difficult because no one took time to acknowledge that I was not in the best

Everyone grows up and they have to make life decisions as to what college to attend, selecting a major, and making choices that will lead you to become successful. Being a senior made me realize that I need to be determined and know exactly my lifestyle choices. I’ve always been fascinated in Criminal Justice and working for the FBI to solve murders, suicide, and rapes cases. My goal is to attend the University of La Sierra or California State University Northridge to study my career that I want. If this measure under any circumstances was not an option for me for my next option would be a School Psychologist because I always love hearing people’s problems or If they just need someone to comfort them.

In this semester, I have been exposed to the subject of Introduction to Guidance and Counselling which is a new field of study for me. After I have received this lesson, I can relate my experiences with what I have learned. Not only that, I also have different perspective towards after I learned this subject. The aspects that I can relate my experiences and thoughts with are the differences between advice, guidance and counselling as well as the goals of counselling.
