America is known as “The Land of Opportunity” and it established the concept of the American Dream in the 1900’s. The fight for this dream was prevalent even before it was given a name in 1930. The founding fathers wrote this belief into the constitution with the words “All Americans are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” .Some Americans believe that the American Dream can still be obtained in the 21st Century with hard work and perservance ; however, a majority of the American population among race gender and class has a different point of view on what America still provides to their citizens because economic insta8bility and lack of equal opportunity.
To some the American dream seems out of reach Race, economic background and where you live play a role in economic mobility. According to CNN in 2010 white Americans have 22 times more wealth then blacks and 15 times more than Hispanics. “Only in America can someone start with nothing and achieve the American dream. That’s the greatness of this country” (Reafel Cruz). Reafel is stating that America provides hope to every person and gives a choice to do whatever you please with your life. There is no excuse to why a person cannot achieve the American Dream because America as a country gives you all the necessities in order to succeed. We provide many resources such as welfare , financial aid to help you get the education to you need and many other programs to help Americans who need assistance in order to achieve the American dream. These governmental social programs are a big help to people , they have been here for many generations and will continue to provide access to Americans who have trouble and need
