George Washington grew up in a time when we were still owned by England. As he was growing up he learned English customs, they liked tea and had one ruler that had total control over the country. He worked on the farm and helped around the house all day. He helped Britain win the Ohio Valley, against the French. As he got older the Stopped helping Britain and started fighting for freedom. Even after America was won some british customs were still followed. When Washington fought in the war it was very hard. They did not have this new technology to help them. They did not have cars to ride in instead they rode on horses. The new weapons we have invented would of also been helpful in the had them. In the time of this war they did not
George had a rough childhood. He was born into slavery in Missouri and his mother was kidnapped by slave raiders. Sick and orphaned George was raised by the Carvers. Later, George was able to overcome his challenges and graduated college with a degree in botany and agriculture and also studied agricultural chemistry. George Washington Carver contributed to the world by improving health and agricultural outputs also he founded an industrial research laboratory.
He was sent to the Forks of Ohio to confront the French and tell them to vacate. What George Washington did when he confronted them, started the Seven Years War.
He also knew that if a civil war were to break loose, we would be forced to take help from foreign countries, and they could put us in debt or start running our country from the outside. Keeping us free without outside influence helped develop a fierce sense of nationalism, one where everyone would forget their ties with Britain and establish their own culture. This policy of neutrality kept America from being taken back by the British, but more importantly it kept us from falling apart like many other fledgling countries. George Washington was a very wise man. So wise, in fact, that he was chosen to be the general of the continental army, and later the first president of the United States. As the first president, George Washington set many precedents, including setting up a court system, establishing a department, and refusing to run for a third term. Also, he saw things that would help the nation and occurrences that would create division throughout the country. Consequently, in his farewell address, he warned the nation of three main things that would separate the nation: forming political parties, being stagnant and never changing, and taking sides in foreign matters.

He led the United States to declare independence from England and continued to lead until the United States gained independence. Everybody respected him as a leader and followed his example, he motivated many troops and his military experience helped shape how successful the army was. George Washington did not just stand behind the lines and tell troops where to go. Washington would be at the front of his troops leading his men.
He was very popular among the French. At first the French only provided hidden support through American traders. After the colonies declared their independence in 1776, they provided a secret loan, but refused to sign a treaty because George Washington had lost so badly in New York. Yet, it was very important to have alliances such as the Indians, Spanish, or the French because the American Colonies had declared their independence and entered into a war with England and the more countries approved their cause and supported them the better chance they had of overpowering their enemy. During the first three years of the American Revolutionary war, the largest military encounters were in the north, focused on campaigns around the cities of Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. After the failed Saratoga Campaign in 1777 when the British attempted to gain military control of the Hudson River Valley, they largely abandoned their operations in the Middle Colonies and pursued a strategy of peace through subjugation in the Southern Colonies. This strategy failed as there were not as many Loyalists willing to fight as the British might have thought. Moreover, the Patriots use of more guerrilla warfare, with hit and run tactics which the British were not accustomed to. Finally, as the British chased the Americans through the countryside, they tended to take food, mainly from farmers, causing new enemies to be established.

What many people don’t know is Washington struggled with slavery his entire life but he could not legally free his slaves until Martha and himself had both died. In his will he left a not saying once Martha died that all of the slaves at Mount Vernon would be emancipated.
