The shooting took place at a Century movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado. Mr. Holmes’s family had history with mental disorders like schizoaffective disorder, psychotic disorder, etc. James was very socially awkward, he also has thoughts of wishing people dead.

Albert fish was born in 1870. He grew up in Washington, DC, with lots of family problems. Not only did his father die when he was at the age of five, but mental issues seemed to run in his family. Fish was sent off to a foster home when his mother was no longer able to take care of him because she was working so many hours to keep up with his father’s passing. The orphanage is when warning signs appeared like, Fish taking pleasure in the punishment the boys were given when they were misbehaving.

Quickly after Pollard was found dead authorities had arrested three African American women and one African American male. All of the suspects would maintain their innocence throughout the trials and book. This book displays many ways in which whites and blacks go against each other but also how they work together. With this book the reader will learn about more than just a murder in Virginia, they will also learn a lesson about race.

Innocence is is a lack of guilt, with respect to any kind of crime, or wrongdoing. In a legal context, innocence refers to the lack of legal guilt of an individual, with respect to a crime. Being convicted of a crime and found not guilty later on can frustrate the convict and the convict’s family as the time spent behind bars, is time they will never get back. James Richardson was convicted and charged for murder and rape in Cross Lanes, West Virginia on May 18, 1989. First, Richardson noticed the neighbor’s house burning.

When hearing about the story of James Bulger—one cannot help but to feel heartbroken and upset, not just for James and his family, but also Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. On February 12th 1993, Thompson and Venables, both just ten years old, were playing hooky from school and had decided to spend the day at an area mall. While at the mall, they noticed two year old James shopping with his mother. When James’ mother went to pay for some items, Thompson and Venables abducted James, taking him on a two and a half mile walk where they later attacked him with paint, bricks, stones, and a 22 pound metal pipe, which was believed to have caused fractures to his skull. With his injuries so severe, this is likely what caused his death.

When fiercely question by Mrs. Lawrence, one of Holmes 's tenants and a friend of Emeline’s, he swiftly replies that she is gone to be married in secret and produces a cheaply printed leaflet announcing her engagement to Robert E. Phelps. Larson 's purpose in this passage is to display the poor level of security that people felt in Chicago at the time, the little faith they had in the police force as well as the impersonal feelings they had toward fellow Chicagoans. Larson uses the repetition of the words “no,” and “not,” when depicting the reaction from both his tenants and friends/family of Emeline’s after her sudden disappearance to connect the passage to one of the overall themes of The Devil in the White City- modernity and anonymity.
