Police brutality and racial profiling against has became a huge problem in America. In 2016 more than 250 african americans were killed by police officers. Two thousand and fifteen an estimate of 306 blacks were killed. Mainly our african american men have been killed innocently by an officer because the color of his skin.

At least 303 lives of African Americans were lost due to police shootings in 2016. Why is this number so high and why is it growing? Many people believe the brutality of police and authorities has grown stronger in the past several years towards those of color, and that it is becoming incorrigible. Back in 2012, the life of Trayvon Martin was lost suddenly due to a watch captain of the neighborhood, George Zimmerman. Zimmerman had claimed to see a “suspicious person” and was directed to stay in his SUV, however those orders were not followed.

Recently the media has been covering stories of the amount of black lives being taken by the police. Statistics have shown that is not the case, that the loss of black lives are due to “black-on-black crime.” In this article, the mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu makes an effect to understand the root of this problem, of why African Americans are killing each other. Understand know crime is right, however, we contradict our actions with so much black on black violence toward each other. I believe if we have more strong leaders like we once had. Our community would come together. We have seen changes with martin Luther King Jr and Thurgood Marshall.

When boundaries are crossed or someone steps out of line, violence is used to correct the situation (Matsuda el al. 2013). Police are not respected in these neighborhoods which is socially unacceptable in white neighborhoods. This leads to the factor, political insecurity and the lack of help inner city neighborhoods

The number of shootings involving law enforcement officers and unarmed African American men has increased in the United States in recent months to the point where there is social unrest in one particular community: the African-American community. Groups such as Black Lives Matter have been created in the recent past to create tranquility between the police and the people of the Unites States. If media accounts of these incidents are accurate and these recent trends are taken together, the country is on the tipping point of a deadly unprecedented racial divide. It is safe to say that the majority of Americans would agree that the Civil Rights Movement achieved many of its goals, most would also agree that racism and racial profiling

African Americans have been placed on a path that their fates have been set throughout history. The criminal justice system has also taken it upon itself to make sure that they do not move away from this path and continue to go forward with it. So many parts of the system have played its role and it continues to play it by keeping African incarcerated. Not only do they target African Americans, but they target those who have a disadvantage when fighting against the system. The system has its history with African Americans so one can figure that this would continue to lead on in the future.

All we need to do is look at the television or listen to the radio to experience the sobering statistics or the self-hating bullshit that now passes as black entertainment on the evidently racist major networks to confirm this fact. Thuggishness and gangsterism, misogyny, brutality and ignorance have become synonymous with black life in the eyes of many, both inside and outside of our communities, as a result of both our actions and of corporate America 's sanctioning and glorification of negative imagery and behavior. Our worst attributes are always awarded, paraded and celebrated by those whose job it is to keep us in a state of distress. So far in the year of 2015, 66 unarmed African Americans have been killed by police authorities. Ever since the death Michael Brown in August 2014, the world has become much more aware of police brutality. According to wisegeek.org, police brutality is “a form of police misconduct in which officers engage in an excessive use of force.” Police brutality against African Americans is an issue that has been causing a lot of controversy in the past year. This issue needs much more awareness than ever before, since there have been many startling cases during and after the Ferguson protest.

As African Americans we have a target on our backs one rooted in hate. However, it is our job to continue fighting for our right and our place in the world to be known. Many white officers do not receive any type of sentencing in court especially in cases that include the lost lives of one of our own. They live in fear of the threat that we pose especially when during slavery times we talked in letters or through songs rather than disobeying master. Additionally, this behavior is what we have tried to overcome, but we are constantly being judged because of the color of our skin.

According to “The Washington Post”, Last year 963 African Americans were shot and killed by police. Ever since the 1960s Africans has been fighting for equality; in the Eric Garner case and Michael Brown, it demonstrated how White police officers abuse and misuse their power towards African Americans. Since the increase of police brutality communities has had marches, rallies, and even the Black Lives Matters movements as a response to show that Polices’ abuse of power is unacceptable. From Ferguson to Tulsa to Baton Rouge, there have been countless cases of police brutality towards African-American men, women, and children. Murderers never receiving their justice, given paid time off and being cleared of charges. Families living in fear, left torn apart at the hands of people who took an oath to serve and protect. We see people of all races standing together in protest of something we know to be wrong, advocating for much needed social change.
