Why do people always say that the book was better than the movie? Film makers tend to get a bad reputation about ruining books by making them into movies. However, that may not always be the case. Some books can be considered to follow the storyline very well, like the in the story The Secret Life of Bee’s. Despite the fact that the Daughters of Mary had no impact in the movie, the film was still a faithful adaptation of the book because of the similarities of Lily’s relationship with August, and the outcome of the altercation with T-Ray.
In the book The Secret Life of Bee’s Lily’s moral character is strongly influenced by the Daughters of Mary, however this wasn't the case in the film. In the book the Daughters play an important role in Lily’s life by showing her that race doesn't dictate relationships. In the book one important lesson on racial inclusion was when the Daughters were telling jokes with Lily. She felt as though she was a member of the family, despite the fact she was white, “Sugar-Girl said what she did, like I was truly one of them” (Kidd 209). The movie, however failed to capture the importance of the Daughters of Mary by only featuring them in a brief scene that was somewhat confusing. They had nearly zero speaking roles, and the speaking roles they were in had no teaching or deeper meaning behind the superficial meaning. Despite the fact that the movie didn't accurately represent the Daughters of Mary, most likely due to time

Even with the lacking presence of the Daughters of Mary, Lily’s strong relationship with August and the depiction of the end of the story, accurately represented the main ideas of the story. With these comparisons taken into consideration, it is important to realize that the latest cinematic thriller may have a good book that goes along with
In my opinion there are a lot of comparisons between the film and the book, but there are also differences between them too, but also they have impacted the audience in both the film and the
The book is able to give everyone different perceptions while movies make us all the same one dimensional understanding of the producers. Another piece of evidence this includes is Price says that if you asked a kid who lived in the 1950s to write a story, he would write a first hand account on a scene that involved personal feelings, like losing a loved
In the movie Nightjohn directed by Charles Burnett their were many differences than the book Nightjohn by Gary Paulsen. The differences are minimal and sometimes would not even be noticed. Most movies would be very boring if they would be the same as the book. In the book all the characters are different than they are in the movie. One character is Mrs.Waller the wife of Clel Waller.
A New Family: Interracial Relationships and Religion in The Secret Life of Bees In such a diverse world where different races come together and interact, the early 1960s reveal society’s surprised reaction to these relationships. Interracial relationships are strongly frowned upon during this time, almost as if they are illegal. Fortunately, over time, people begin to accept those with different backgrounds and can easily communicate with each other. Hardships are still present today, but society in moving in a better direction.
Two of the girls were concerned due to the effects of the war in Vietnam. The girls who had decided to perform in Vietnam were very brave. In the film all of the girls were sent to Vietnam to portray, together they were inseparable and wanted to stay with family to protect each other. The sets on the other hand were crowded with militarily features such as armed guards and vehicles used to transport the girls, for protection. |Does the film depict any racism portrayed throughout the
Many people, if asked what they would prefer, would prefer to read the book instead of watching the movie. It could be because the movie will always leave some parts from the story out. It seems like directors of the movie always leave out parts from the book, only incorporating the important parts from the story. Some also say that they prefer to leave the descriptions of things in the book up to their imagination. Also, when you are reading the book, you get to read the main characters point of view on things.
The fantasy is about Buttercup, a milkmaid, and Westley, a farm boy, who fall in love and have to face many obstacles. The story mainly develops the themes of true love and revenge. However, in the book, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, the story develops the theme of revenge and true love in more depth compared to the movie. First of all, the book provides a detailed past of each main character which makes the reader sympathize with them. For example, in the book, the author has dedicated four to five pages to understand Inigo’s and Fezzik’s past.
A major difference is that there are some characters that were in the book that aren't in the movie like Flora Baumbach, Theo Theodorakis, and Madame Hoo. Even though the movie wasn’t as good or as exciting as the book, they were both interesting and are fun to read and listen
There are details left out of the movie that were in the book, the movie doesn 't demonstrate the ongoing theme of hunger as well as the book does, and the the movie does a better job with
In the end I found the film to be easier to understand vs the book as it was an easier and more straight forward plot line whereas in the book it seemed to jump around leading to constant flipping between stories and pages to get a better
One of the advantages of watching the speech in the movie is that the reader can see the expressions and tones of the characters that are shown in the movie, but when reading the book the reader can’t see the characters’ expressions. Although the movie has advantages to watching it also has some disadvantages too. A disadvantage is that the movie is that things are changed or left out, but when you read the book you get the full and original story. While reading the book the reader will probably notice that things are much better explained, but when you watch the movie things are left out. When you read the book you understand what is happening more.
Throughout The Secret Life of Bees bees play a recurring role in the novel, repeatably being mentioned during the novel in epigrams before the start of each chapter and within the story itself. Unfortunately, on certain occasions the reason why bees are included in a certain part of the story can be unclear and confusing to readers, causing them to occasionally misinterpret the importance of bees throughout the novel. Regardless, the bees throughout play a very important role in understanding many of the themes and symbolism that Kidd included within the novel. In The Secret Life of Bees Kidd symbolizes Lily’s experiences and situations through the bees frequently present in the novel to show that seemingly different things can function in the same way.
Watching The Secret Life of Bees in the time period that it was filmed made me notice a lot of things I did not notice the first time I watched it. Along with it being the 1960's down south which was the most racist part of the country at the time. Rosaleen and Lily have a close relationship and they care for each other after Rosaleen was beaten up by the white men and taken into custody, Lily ran away from home to look for her. Lily helped Rosaleen escape from the hospital where she was being watched by police and went somewhere safe. They ended up at the Boatwright sisters, the sisters are very close and they even run their own business.
There are many differences made in the movie and the book to simplify the plot to save time. Majority of the simplifications being made do not affect the story, but have a different way of portraying each chapter. The movie and the book portray the messages in different ways with the same meaning. What happened in the beginning of the movie was that Huck was getting into a fight with a kid and he soon discovered Pap’s footprint, while in the beginning of the book Huck being civilized by Widow Douglas.
I enjoyed the movie better than the book. It included just the right amount of action scenes, description words, and details from the story. The story was amazing but I like seeing things more than reading them. I usually like the movies better than the book.
