The Era of Good Feelings was a period in American History starting around 1817 and ending with President James Monroe’s presidency in 1825. This era highlighted a time of patriotic sentiments and national unity. This was a time of peace and prosperity, exemplifying the American spirit. The feelings the American citizens had of unity were greatly similar to the original patriots' founding spirit. This can be seen by looking at the presidents of both periods. The presidents of these periods were George Washington and James Monroe. The first similarity between these two periods of time was that the feelings towards both presidents were very popular. Washington was the only president to be unanimously elected and was heavily liked by the people.
