The Heroicity of Darry
The book The Outsiders contains lots of characters with lots of heroic traits, but Darry could be considered a hero because of these two reasons. Darry gave up his chance to go to college to provide for Soda and Ponyboy. The other reason Darry could be considered a hero is because he has two jobs just to keep him, Ponyboy, and Soda.
For someone to be considered a hero they need to show courage and leadership and that is just what Darry shows. After Darry, Ponyboy, and Soda’s parents die Darry has to give up going to college in order to stay with Ponyboy and Soda. After he does this he also has to get two jobs just to support the family.
