I feel that to properly understand me you should receive an understanding about my high school experience, my academic mistakes, my long term goals, and how I plan on succeeding at Lindenwood University. I strongly believe that Lindenwood is the perfect place to cultivate my interests into a career and I want to convince whoever it may concern that i will not waste this opportunity.
High School was always this vision of freedom that middle school Destiny yearned for. Being a fan of cliche high school show tropes I thought being in high school would be like being in an episode of “Glee”. I soon realized that highschool is not some teenage dream. My freshmen year 4 people at my school were either killed or died. One of those people was someone

It made sense to me. I never had a moment in time where I wanted to give up in an english class because it was hard. As those 2 Failures on my transcript indicate, that was not the case for me in math. With time to look over the outcome I realized I gave up. After I was out of school for around a month after my ACL surgery it was hard to catch up but It was not impossible. I didn 't try enough because I already thought my grade was too far gone and that rolled over into the next semester. After the school year I was very disappointed in myself. I never have failed a class in my life but here I was applying for summer school. So I redirected my disappointment and decided to excel at summer school. I did my homework everyday, I payed attention, and I actually gained an understanding of the material I was learning. I went as far to ask my parents to give me a tutor to be certain I had no excuses. And now in my senior year in highschool my grade never dropped below a B. Refusal to fail is now in my …show more content…
Politics is something that will continually affect me day in and day out and is vastly interesting to me. If I could run someone’s campaign, write political news, or really be in any room where political affairs happen I’d love every second of what I do. My main goal overall is to be a lawyer and the law and government tie directly into each other. Which is why i think a great undergraduate degree is political science. I try to be as realistic as possible in most situations, I know college is not going to be easy especially with the major that chose me. But after my visits to Lindenwood I understand all the ways that help is accessible to me. And since my failure in Algebra 2 the year prior I’ve gained new ways to make it fool proof that I remember to do my work. With the help of calendars, alarms on my phone, and writing and recording notes as the professor speaks I feel that I am prepared to succeed at college. With these tools I fully plan on surpassing others in my pursuit of higher education.
In conclusion my failures do not define me as a student. I know what I need to do in order to succeed now and I know what goals are in my sights. I am very confident in the fact that I will not disappoint. I know if I want to defend and prove innocence as my career I have to first prove myself worthy. Please accept me and my mistakes as a student who is willing to learn and grow. At first I was a
Despite the challenge, I managed to earn decent grades that I was still proud of. Unfortunately, to
I consistently struggled in class,I was still stuck in the maturation process. For me the biggest turning point came in fourth
The reason that I want to share this story, is to show people who are in currently in high school that it is acceptable to fail. While it is not okay to accept failing as an option, if you tried as hard as you could and still ended up failing, it is actually
I also used to struggle to keep my grades up during elementary school but as I progressed through the years, I eventually became better. With all being said, you must go through pain, struggle, sacrifice, commitment, etc, to reach what you
As I sit in the basement of the Lilly Library, surrounded by friends who have become family in a few short months, covered in calculus and EQ notes, and listening to some Duke Ellington jazz music for my Music 101 class, I can’t help but reflect on what this year has meant to me and my development as a student, athlete, brother, friend, and person. I entered Wabash College not exactly sure what to expect; I knew it was going to be different, but I also knew that with change I wanted to keep an open mind that was ready to learn and grow. Freshman tutorial and especially enduring questions are two classes that have pushed my boundaries as a person, forcing me to question core beliefs and ideas that seemed previously engrained in my mind. Throughout
Despite the many hours I worked on the class, I still could only get C’s on the tests. I spent most of my free time correcting my quizzes and rewriting notes from the class. I was struggling- so much that I let my other classes slip away. At home, I would fight with my mother about my grades. She would yell at me saying, “Your brothers could always get As!
This Texas Government course is my first online class and also my first Honors class in college. I am aware that online courses may require students to do discussion boards or group projects or any other assignments that encourage interactions among students. I expected to experience and improve my teamwork skills and critical thinking. Although this class was about Texas Government, I was looking forward to discussing the presidential election that was held during throughout the semester. Last spring semester, I took GOVT 2305 - the Federal Government- and found myself involved in discussions and debates.
High school is one of the greatest pivotal times in a human's life. It is where young adults are able to form their own opinions on the world, find activities they are passionate about, and learn to create fruitful relationships with their peers and teachers. However, I did not initially view high school as a period of time for growth and development. Instead, I saw it simply as another task to complete before I entered the real world. I did not take advantage of all the opportunities around me and I began to find school to be institutionalized or meaningless.
Growing up through middle school years, I had conformed to settling for whatever grades I got and not really working hard. When the transition was made to high school, I truly learned how much work would have to been put in for to make average grades, much less above average ones. At the beginning,
High school has impacted my life in so many ways. High School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education. As a freshman, I made a huge amount of mistakes and I regret doing foolish things, but I’ve realized, I was only maturing into the young adult I am today. Freshman year, I was out of focus and I was only trying to find myself. I would also prioritize other things and ignore my parent’s advice, where they would tell me to focus in school and give it my full attention.
I had many experiences with failure in my life. One of the failures had changed everything in my life was the time that I failed on the SAT. I remember it was two years ago when I decided to come back to school. I didn’t graduate from high school in U.S, so I had to take a SAT if I want to go to college. I went to school to study English for one year and prepare for the test.
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
My first day of high school as a freshmen in a new level of education Is what I was thinking when I woke from slumber that morning in bed. Stepping foot on the campus wasn’t even the beginning, taking the school bus in the morning is where the first taste of being a freshmen and actually starting and being an high school student. I started to get really nervous and a sense of reality hit me. Walking towards the bus stop all I see is a huge group of high school students waiting around for the bus, calm and cool as I try to stay to be I approach the waiting area not knowing what to I’m getting into.
My high school experience was a long, frustrating learning experience. I didn’t know what to expect, or what I was getting myself into. Nobody gave me the tools to understand the main focus of each year. I am going to give you tips and advice on how to succeed in high school. I will discuss 9-12th grade along with what to expect each year.
In 9th and 10th grade my studying habits were very poor and it showed tremendously on test and quizzes. 11th and 12th grade I took the initiative to learn how to study and not procrastinate. This was a challenge for me because test and quizzes took up the most percentage over classwork and homework which means one test or one quiz could drop your grade
