Informal Networks The article written by Richard McDermott and Douglas Archibald talks about informal networks in companies. Informal networks are more a kind of informal groups that are automatically formed in a company. The main motive behind forming this socially based informal group is to share knowledge. These informal networks have many names peer groups, communities of practice, functional groups etc. Informal employee networks are inexpensive. This is a way of experts to share knowledge and ideas. Formals groups are groups that are controlled by senior officers. Organizations are most productive when individuals work as a whole to gather knowledge and when leaders rule effectively in order to gain respect. A leader rules most effectively when they use cruelty to instill fear in their followers (Source D). For example, a coach on a football team will have better results during practice and games if he coaches so that his players fear rather than love him. A way to do this is if the coach uses harsh punishments, like conditioning, when his players step out of line.
The three specific connections that can be found between the points made by the young people in their letters to the Chicago Times and the main ideas of the social disorganization theory are: In the summertime, low-income neighborhoods in Chicago experience an increase in delinquency and crime. Second point, there is little police intervention or protection from gang activity in these communities and the people who are not involved feel like they have nobody to turn to and most resort to hiding inside to avoid victimization. Last, youth not only would like more protection from violence in their neighborhoods but better relationships between law enforcement officers and the community. The importance of social embeddedness as well as, social capital within community organization and in return within collective action are two additional research points. The program of the building is intended function as a tool that fosters the community organization process. These associations and groups sought to create educational initiatives which would be relevant to the needs of the community and allow people to take control of their lives. It is easy to get caught up in details but that should never stop you from seeing the big picture, Helping the people. It is so important for a leader to connect with the people because whether you realize it or not they look up to you for support and follow your example. A leader cares about the people and will take the time to show them they care. Leaders will try to listen and understand everyone. There is so much good you can do as a leader as long as you put in some hard work!
