Have you ever wondered how your past influences who you are today? For example, in A Christmas Carol, The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Ebenezer Scrooge to places where he had happy memories as a kid. The Ghost does this in order to remind Scrooge, who is a grumpy old man, that life is supposed to be fun, happy, and full of love. Therefore, The Ghost of Christmas Past has the most impact on Scrooge’s life because he is a core representation of how life is supposed to be happy and how we still have hope to change.
First off, the Ghost is extremely approachable as he creeps into Scrooge’s bedroom by being completely respectful of his desired space. Unlike the giant Ghost of Christmas present and the scary Ghost of Christmas future, Scrooge has a feeling of safety when the Ghost of Christmas past is near because of his gentle size. As stated by the Ghost on page 37, “your welfare,” helps Ebenezer to know that all is fine. The narrator describes the voice as “soft and gentle” (Dickens 30) which demonstrates that the Ghost wanted only peace with Scrooge. The Ghost’s whole goal is to influence Scrooge to live a life of modesty and compassion, so he does that by bringing him to the quiet countryside of his childhood. Christmas is times for poorer and richer enjoy together except for one man that being ignore and mean to other people and his family. He’s name Scrooge. He is such a mean person that always cares about money than any other things. At the beginning of A Christmas, he goes upstairs while trimming his candle because he loved the fact that darkness was cheap. Darkness is cheap and Scrooge liked it.” After the visit of the four ghosts, he is no longer cheap but is very generous. One particular ghost I feel that helped bring out this change is the Ghost of Christmas Present because,e in the beginning, he discovers that Bob’s family is very poor because of the poor amount of money Scrooge paid them and later on he treated them with more kindness and increased the amount he pays them.
