We see Democrats and Republicans as two different parties with different views but at one point in time they were one single party called Democrats-Republicans. They were organized by James Madison and Thomas Jefferson in 1791. While this party was established there were only four presidents who made office during this time and they were Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, and Quincy Adams. What the Democrats-Republicans job was to go against the Federalist Party when elections came around. After the war in 1812 the Federalist Party lost most of its supporters and ended up disbanding.

The parties’ group started with the conflicts of Jackson’s presidency and the religious eagerness that was a result of the Second Great Awakening. Whigs contained most of their nations wealth and were the strongest in the area.

The First Party System that emerged between 1789 and 1808 is a model of existing American political parties. Throughout the late 1700s, American political leaders and their supporters began grouping themselves under the labels “Federalist” and “Democratic Republican.” The Federalist Party was formed by Alexander Hamilton, while the Democratic Republican Party was formed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Undoubtedly, domestic issues, foreign affairs, and economic factors were a relative importance to the development of the First Party System.

Despite being the only major political party the Democrats experienced a lot of conflict among themselves Eventfully a party known as the Whigs developed. Both the Democrats and Whigs wanted to expand the numbers of voters. They accomplished this by eliminating several voting restrictions put on white males. Like the Federalist the Whigs supported northern merchants. Besides supporting merchants, the only thing members of the Whig party really had in common was there opposition to the Democratic party.

Was a vote for someone other than Bush or Gore in 2000 a wasted vote? Why or why not? Yes, because voting for a third party is a waste since most people are either democratic or republican. Statistically, third parties have little or no chance to winning.

As a result, the competitive nature of the political parties contributed to despotism and corrupt systems in which the politicians are separated into camps of losers and winners.

It is intended to pursue "the greatest happiness of all citizens. " It used the representation system to reform Rome's citizen conference, making it an "indirect democracy" agency of "consignment-agent. " It borrows from the strengths of the monarchy, strengthens the function and role of the executive power, and gives it to a single person to exercise. At the same time, the founding members of the United States have also drawn lessons from the theory and system of decentralization in past generations and transformed them into a composite decentralization and checks and balances system

Federalist, such as John Adams, were seen as anti-liberty aggressive bureaucrats and the Republicans planned to secede in secret if they took they lead. This plan was never actually taken into affect; or very seriously for that matter. They made Adams out to be some sort of godless heathen with questionable morals and views so people would avoid voting for him. Democratic-Republicans were heated because Adams refused to engage in a war, which they believed was in order because of the French treated them. They were outright furious and many groups protested their president’s decision.

The entire idea of republicanism is one that is not easily achieved. Many different countries have tried to implement the ideals of a republic, but only a few have actually achieved a pure republic. The United States today is not a pure republic, it is more of a republic mixed with democratic ideals. American republicanism is a multifaceted political ideology that incited vast differences among the individuals who considered it as the establishment of the United States political framework. It attempted to contain political corruption and greed.

Political Parties: Then and Now After witnessing recent elections and seeing the tension between the two political parties, it is important for us to look at the origin of these political parties. It is important to know and understand how the origins of the United States government have shaped the Democratic and Republican beliefs. As a young adult, my opinions on politics and political parties aren’t usually my own, they come from parents, friends, and the media. It’s getting close to the time where I will have to experience voting, and picking a party to go with, it’s important to understand exactly where I belong regarding politics.
