Many people say life is full of obstacles. That goes very well with two characters, one a kid named Alfred from, The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey, and a lion from the short story, The lion and the elephant by Jan Payne. Even though one character is from a long adventure story and another from a short fable they show readers that life is tough and full of obstacles. Life is tough and comes with obstacles, that goes very well with the lion from, The lion and elephant. In the beginning of the story the lion was scared of how the cockerel would crow every morning and he would cry “go away” till he would go but the cockerel would not go. The lion set out to see if any other animals were scared of the cockerel, but none where. Then he asked elephant and not surprising he said no,but he had something that scared him a tiny gnat. That shows that even though your big and strong you will have many obstacles in your life. …show more content…
That's true with Alfred from,The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp. He had some rough times in his life. He had to overcome watching his uncle Farrell get killed right in front of him and he was his only living relative which, also ties in with Alfred having to go to a new house and meeting new people which was hard for him. Then after his relative died he started to become friend with a guy named Bennacio which lasted a little bit till the enemy who stole the sword Alfred was sworn to protect to killed Bennacio, that hurt him
It is one thing to fight and win, but it is another story to have the courage to walk away. Another similarity that the mighty lion, El Asfar, and the courageous man, En-gerr, share is at one point they had to put someone back in their place. For one of the cases, one had to prove they were the king, and in the other case, one had to prove that he knew how to make wise decisions by
El-ahrairah is a rabbit who has had many wives and has played many tricks. One day Frith held a great meeting to make every animal different. I learned the rabbits have passed down the story of how all animals are different. El-ahrairah and his people were stuck in a bad place.
“Everyone is handed adversity in life. No one’s journey is easy. It’s how they handle it that makes people unique.” This is a quote by Kevin Conroy. When applied to the novels Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom and Night by Elie Wiesel, it is easy to see the truth in Conroy’s words.
Every hero needs a “mentor” and Alfred is just that to Bruce (“Archetypes”). After Bruce’s parents died, Alfred stepped in as the “father figure” because it was important Bruce grows up with a good “role model” (“Archetypes”). Alfred always wanted Bruce to do good and continue his parents legacy of protecting Gotham and the people. When Bruce needed to go to the gala to save people, Alfred “[kept] an eye on [Bruce]” to make sure he was safe (Lu 214).
I think that this greatly influences how the new character acts. The character is either trying to live up to the legacy that his relatives left, pay debts that they have left behind, or trying to change the way that the character is looked upon. At the
This shows how Roko’s response to his problem was courageous because he was brave enough and persevered enough to try and maneuver through the rocks with his pain and animals on his tail. This shows that in the “Wounded Wolf” by Jean Craighead George, Roko a deeply hurt wolf, is hunted and followed by other animals. In the midst of attacks by animals and birds, Roko fights
Robert W. Krepps’s short story, “Pride of Seven” illuminates the theme, with fear comes courage. The story begins by introducing the Masai tribe of Kenya, and the dutchman that has been living with the tribe for quite sometime. The dutchman has become friends with one of the natives whom goes by the name En-gerr, who has not yet sought after his lion. In the Masai tribe in order for a boy to become a man he must kill a lion, with no gun only a spear. The dutchman happens to have found a pride of seven lions in which he has come to enjoy watching.
The Lion King shows every step of the hero's journey from being ordinary, transforming from ordinary to extraordinary and becoming
Some of the characters, like Dodge, Alyss, and Hatter, show perseverance in trying to defeat Redd. Dodge perseveres through the mental pain of The Cat killing his father and the physical pain of The Cat 's scratches. Hatter shows perseverance when he helps Alyss escape the palace safely and risks his life trying to find her. Alyss shows perseverance in trying to defeat Redd and finding the courage to stand up to her. This theme shows the reader that no matter what gets in your way, you can always fight through and
Life is “trapped” in school. In contrast, the animal in Emancipation: A Life Fable, is actually kept in a cage. Similarly, both have to be patient, to wait for their freedom. For example, at the end of Boy’s Life, Mrs. Neville, the main character’s teacher, keeps the main character after the bell rings, prolonging his wait for summer vacation. In Emancipation: A Life Fable, the animal was born in a cage, and had to wait for most of its life for the day its cage was left open by accident.
When the Winkies were attacking, everyone else was scared except the lion. He knew exactly what to do when they were in danger. It is ironic considering that his
Hope is the main reason that the caged bird finds the strength to fight the engulfing oppression it was facing. For example, the character of the bird in, “Caged Bird” sings, hoping that his plea of freedom is heard by others, so that he can be free from the oppression that is binding him. The bird’s
In the novel of the Call of the Wild, Buck tried to adapt to his new and difficult life. He was forced to help the men find gold; he experienced a big transformation in him. At the end, he transformed into a new and different dog. Buck went through physical, mental and environmental changes. In my essay, I talked about how Buck was like at the beginning, what he changed into, and how he was forced to adapt his new environment, and underwent these changes.
In another instance, we find out that his best friend Marial was killed by a lion and that he was greatly affected by the death of his friend but through this, his uncle was there to comfort him and protect him. This tells us
One of the people that we this in the most is the uncle he has to play two very distinct roles that sometime conflicted with each other. One role was He was Belle uncle and raised her and Belle saw him as a father figure , but on the other hand he
