The Maze Runner, by James Dashner, is a book about a group of boys who are stuck in a giant maze that constantly is changing. At the beginning of the book, Thomas, the main character, wakes up in a metal box and the only thing he can remember is his name. He then is lifted out of the box and into a large field. There are huge stone walls covered in ivy surrounding the field and four openings in the walls, one for each side. The inhabitants of the field are about sixty boys, who call themselves Gladers. Throughout the book, the main character tries to figure out who he is and why he is in the “Glade,” as the boys call it. One of the boys in the Glade, Chuck, really stands out and Thomas takes him under his wing. He protects him and makes sure he is okay throughout the book. Near the end of the book, there is a big battle and Thomas doesn't want Chuck To get hurt: “—Chuck ran past Thomas, who quickly reached out and grabbed his arm. Chuck stumbled backward, then looked up at Thomas, his eyes so full of fright Thomas felt something shatter in his heart. In that split second, he’d made a decision. ‘Chuck, you’re with me and Teresa.’ He said it forcefully, with authority, leaving no room for doubt. Chuck looked ahead at the engaged battle. ‘But …’ He trailed off, and Thomas knew the boy relished the idea though he was ashamed to admit it … Thomas felt the pang of sadness in his heart, felt the urge to get Chuck home safely stronger than he’d ever felt it before” (Dashner 334, 335). This quote shows how much Thomas likes the boy because he is possibly endangering the mission just to save Chuck. A little after this quote, Chuck actually solves the last piece of the maze and saves them all. This shows how important of a lesson compassion

In the novel, Monster—written by Walter Dean Myers—follows the life of a sixteen year old boy Steve Harmon who is a suspect of felony murder and robbery. Throughout the story, we see several journal entries from Harmon who reveals weakness through his words but not his actions. Clearly, if someone were to show weakness during adversity, there would be negative consequences in the future.

Thomas is woken by a telepathic communication with Teresa, the only female Glader, who is afraid. As he wakes up, he finds that the facility is being attacked by Cranks, aggressive zombie-like people that have been affected by a plague known as "the Flare." He and other Gladers escape into the facility's common area and discover that their rescuers are dead. They also find that Teresa is missing from her room, and in her place is a boy named Aris Jones.

The last time they see each other he asks Thomas to kill him so he can't harm anyone. Newt begs him and starts crying. Finally Thomas kills him quickly without pain. Thomas did feel guilty at the end but he really did do the right thing by protecting others and doing what Newt wanted and needed. In wonder, Jack will is kind as well.
Everyone faces challenges and negative relationships at some point in their life, but it is how we overcome these challenges and relationships that shows real courage and independence. Thomas from the book Scorch Trials is just like everyone else. He faces numerous conflicts and negative relationships. In this second installment of the Maze Runner series, Thomas starts being constantly pessimistic and it seems like he is only happy when he is talking to Teresa. He also constantly brings the mood of the group down.

In the end of both film and book Chuck ends up dead. Even if Gally was controlled by wicked or bitten by a griever his command was to kill Thomas. But in the end Chuck gets in the way so Thomas would survive. Also in the book and its film adaptation Thomas becomes a runner. Thomas becomes a runner for the same reasons.
Running the Maze Imagine being trapped inside of a place with no memory of how you got there and the only way to get out was through a maze. James Dashner’s young adult, science fiction novel, The Maze Runner is about just that. There were a brunch of themes in the novel but the most important ones were maintaining rules and orders, making sacrifices, never giving up, and manipulation, even though something may look simple it might be harder than it seems. All these themes were practiced by Thomas and other Gladers in the Glade. Dashner also wrote the sequels to the Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials and Death Cure.
Taking Action As soon as I finished my planning my project I noticed to get all of this done on time that i’d better get to work. So I did, I started off by looking up pictures of mazes. When I did this alot of mazes poped up and they all seemed very difficult. I just wanted a simple, rather easy maze.
