The Princess Bride Film Techniques

As I read, Paul L. Dunbar’s “We Wear the Mask” I was interested in how he described what a mask represents. It is true that a mask was used to hide a person’s pain, emotion, or mood before the day known as Halloween developed. I love how Paul refers the use of the masks as a black or white person’s escape from other peoples’ worried faces. No one can ever understand what someone else is going through. People can never truly speak their truth or let out their suffering.

In traditionally, princess defined can be encapsulated in a few concepts later, the king 's daugther, incredibly beautiful, and born to wating to hostage rescue . All over the world to the comic characters, or even video games like Mario, Princess are acting weak, sitting in the tower and wating for who will get her. Moreover, the princess image is a mirror image of women throughout history. In the childhood, people like a hero to rescue, but raised it seems a bit unfair to them. These girls do not have the right to decide their future, not determined love, occasionally being brought out as a reward for the prince or knight.

The movie Edward Scissorhands, directed by Tim Burton, is a wonderful film. Many can see this as Burton's version of fantasy film because it gives a spunky twist to the everyday fantasy or fairytale. Burton also uses this film to cast a light on society. By showing that we are quick to judge people when they are different from us. Based on this idea, viewers believe that film is about the way Burton feels about himself and how he considers himself to be an outsider.

This critical analysis will talk about the movie "The Princess Bride". The Princess Bride is a movie that narrates the love story of Buttercup, a girl from a big kingdom who had a employe called Westley, and Westley, a brave man who is employe of Buttercup and do what she tells him to do. Both of them were from a little village of a kingdom, were Buttercup and Westley fall in love, but like Westley didn 't have money for getting married with Buttercup, he makes a trip by boat. In this trip he is "captured" by a pirate called Robert. 5 years later, Buttercup becomes the fianceé of the prince, but she doesn 't like him; then she reunites with Westley and after some obstacles both of them end together. After talking about the movie, the text will tell how do the story showed the Middle Ages in the political, cultural, economic and social dimensions.

When the day ends, they all queried if they were all somehow the same. The experiences they had throughout the film made them question the stereotypes given to them. The purpose of The Breakfast Club is to inform teenagers and adults of the negative effects that stereotyping and parental pressure has on young adults.

I vaguely remember the Disney princess movie series I watched as a child at the age of 7 or 8 years old. Every princess in the film was able to find the prince charming also that is an ultimate goal of the happy-ending fairy tale. But the audiences which are watching this film are the young girls with the unfocused mind, first awakening in loved kids with an ignorant mind. They have not much knowledge at the age of 7; the children don’t care about what the film wants to tell them eventually. But what are the messages people who for or against with strong or weak female characteristic expect an answer from a princess movie?

The low key lighting used helps the viewer perceive that Willy’s childhood was rather gloomy and unpleasant. In addition, the lighting also adds an ominous or suspenseful mood to the scene. Another example of the effects of lighting is found in Edward Scissorhands when Peg takes Edward back into town and the scene is flooded with high key lighting and colorful houses. By flooding the scene with brightness and color Burton creates a light-hearted and cheerful environment which creates a cheerful mood and is a pleasure to the eyes. The bright lighting used also displays the difference in color from the town to Edward’s castle which was dark and dreary.

However, the film “The Wedding Banquet” subverts the traditional belief. Same sex relationships have been regarded as reasonable and the overwhelming response towards this film has proven that the awareness on same sex relationship is prevailing throughout these years.

Throughout his life in making films, Tim Burton has shown his unique talent and vision. He proceeds taking advantage of the cinematic techniques; lighting, sound, and camera movements creating a certain mood/tone. These three techniques are used numerous of times for the duration of each film. Although, many various emotions are constructed, there are feelings that anyone may connect to. Tim Burton is a successful filmmaker and has inspired many with the use of his cinematic techniques.

The Princess Bride starts off very weird. It starts out talking about an imaginary country, which is Florin and the author gives credit to the original author, S. Morgenstern, who doesn’t exist either. This book was not my favorite, because the plot never really picked up. The Princess Bride is the novel about a young girl named Buttercup who lives on a farm with her parents. Working on that farm is a farm boy named Westley.

This damsel in distress, Danielle, meets her Prince Charming, in this case Prince Henry of France, and leaves him awestruck, for she is not like any of the other maidens he has seen. Danielle, showing the strength, masculinity, and sassy traits absent in many other princesses, often doubles as the knight and shining armor as well as a princess. She faces pillaging gypsies, her brutal family, and inhabitants of the royal castle without fear. This bravery goes in her favor, for she wins the attention and heart of the most eligible bachelor in the kingdom, Prince Henry. After her lies and deceit are uncovered, that she is not of noble blood but just a peasant, she is left without a companion.

The Film “Citizen Kane” challenged the traditional narrative and technical elements of traditional Hollywood by providing an illusion of movement and expressive use of light in multiple scenes. In this film the narrator expressed that Charles Foster Kane utilized his strengths which was media, newspapers that is how he reached the people, how he could manipulate the readers to read whatever story he wanted to showcase. What was very noticeable to me was mostly that the story was being told in a non-chronological order, throughout the story the course of events are sort of shuffled around for the viewer to decipher the plot while exploring how, when and why Kane died and everything leading to his death. This particular filmmaker by choosing to utilize the non-chronological approach was able to use flashbacks of his life, plenty of voice-over work to summarize the plot.

Rob Reiner’s fantasy movie Princess Bride shows the human year. In the beginning of the movie, its Spring and everything is perfect. Wesley and Buttercup falls in love with each and wish to go farther with their feelings for each other. They are very serious with each other. Wesley is a poor guy, so he goes away to work so he can succeed with the promises he made with his love.
