On the other hand, Jefferson thought that an agriculture-based economy that was full of farmland would work better. He thought that an economy based on agriculture would work better than one promoting business. Jefferson’s main idea about this was that more farmland equals more food. More food means less trade, and less trade meant that there’d be less import taxes, resulting in less money America had to pay. He was against the national bank thinking that it was unconstitutional.

Alexander Hamilton is one of the Founding Fathers of the United States that not many people know about. American history shows that he has accomplished many things that have influenced how America functions today. Being the first Secretary of Treasury allowed him to influence the creation of the First Bank of America which has provided the foundation for our financial way of life. Additionally he was arguably the most prolific author of the Federalist papers that many U.S. courts and legislatures use today to interpret our laws. Lastly, he helped create the branch of the military known as the U.S. Coast Guard which serves and helps citizens in the United States by patrolling and protecting the coastline and seas of the U.S. along with saving lives at sea.

Hamilton presented a plan to Congress to pay off war debts as fast as possible even if the debts were not promptly paid but was opposed by the southerners because they believed they shouldn’t help pay the debt the northerners still owed. Hamilton hoped to use the new government’s power to unite the disagreeing states and help accomplish his plan.
