Dreaming is a huge part of people’s lives. Dreams happen to everybody and are different to everybody. They tell a lot about a person’s life. Dreams are viewed differently by so many people. People have opinions on what makes dreams happen, what dreams are, and what they mean. The way our brain creates a dream is fascinating and interests many people. People have always viewed dreams differently. Humans will always disagree and have a different opinion than another person. One disagreement is dreams. People argue about what dreams really are and what they mean. The “why we dream argument see dreams as only nonsense that the brain creates from fragments of images and memory” (Obringer). On this side of the argument dreams are viewed as tricks of the mind that just seem to happen. Other people believe differently. Some people believe dreams have meaning even if we don’t recognize it at first. “Many think dreams are full of symbolic messages that may not be clear to us on the surface” (Obringer). Even though there are two sides of the argument people have agreed you can tell about a person life through viewing their common dreams. There are a number of common dreams that people have looked into. They view them and study them to see if it …show more content…
They don’t understand what their brain is doing. It doesn’t make sense to why people’s brains are so active when they’re sleeping. People don’t think about what their brain is doing. Dreams seem to draw you in, they can be extremely intense. “They can have vivid images of people you think you’ve forgotten. And they can be emotionally intense, even though you might wake up totally calm” (Shamsian). Some people scream in their sleep and wake up crying which is evidence to how intense some people’s dreams are. Brains are extremely active when people are sleeping even if they don’t recognize it. People don’t think about what parts of the brain are being used and why they are being

Dreaming is specific to one person which is why someone people chase after the “American dream" and some do not. Author F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the ideals behind the American dream to demonstrate the
There is also a difference in the type of messages. In literature, the messages are prophecies and have grandiose meaning. The prophecies foretell the futures main events; the prophecies are stated by mouth rather than looking at the small details. The dreams in actuality tell smaller stories, for example maybe it will be a good day in the market or it is a bad day to travel. The prophecies these dreams portray are much more suited for daily life rather than grand adventures.
PBS’s, Nova What Are Dreams, is a forty-five-minute documentary about how different stages of sleep effect our dreams. Throughout the documentary, we also witness how dreaming is essential for making sense of the world around us. For nearly a century, many thought when one is asleep the brain is asleep as well. Yet not until technology advanced, did scientists begin examining sleeping patients to notice every ninety minutes their patients brain showed activity as if they were awake but were still unconscious.
One of the most common brain activities during sleep is dreaming. Scientist still to this day do not fully understand why we dream or what dreams are exactly. “Some experts suggest that dreams represent the replay of the day’s events as a critical mechanism in the formation of memories, while others claim that the content in dreams is simply the result of random activity in the brain.” It is known that visually intense dreaming occurs most commonly in the REM sleep stage. Dreaming causes the brain to become very active, and not only at displaying the images we see during our dreams.
For example, if someone had the desire to write a book, they would write copious amounts of drafts and edit all their work. Also, it might take several times to figure out everything. Dreams are not a one-step process. They take time, but there will be time. In a minute there is time for a hundred visions and revisions.
Two score and 13 years ago people with colored skin were being segregated for everyday activities like drinking from a water fountain and going to school. Martin Luther King and many others were tired of not getting the treatment they were promised as a whole, so Martin Luther King wrote his famous “I have a Dream” speech, to address the problem that was sweeping the nation. He wanted to persuade the nation to treat Black people with equality and respect. The black population was not going to rest until they received their rights that they were promised when Abraham Lincoln said the “Emancipation Proclamation” . King has a dream and has faith that one day everyone will be equal, everyone will have rights, and that there will be everlasting
1. Introduction Starting from the ancient times humans has always been interested in strange phenomena of sleeping and dreams. Dreams can be explained psychologically as images of subconsciousness and feedback of neural processes in human's brain. For most of us, dreaming is something quite separate from normal life. When we wake up from being chased by a monster, or being on a date with a movie star, we realize with relief or disappointment that "it was just a dream."
To dream is to desire an achievement which seems unobtainable. Most everyone has trouble convincing themselves that their dreams are within reach. Jim Carrey once said, “So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality.” This is a result of allowing dreams to remain dreams and, instead, opting to take a more reliable path. In doing so, a sense of emptiness that never completely dies out is often developed.
Do you know why Martin Luther King Jr has his own day? One reason he has his own day is because he lead the biggest Civil Rights marrch in America, which is known as The March on Washington. This march had more than two hundred thousand people trying to end segregation. Martin Luther King Jr is one of the most known people in America because, he tried to end segregation and after having many peaceful protest he finally ended segregation. Martin Luther King Jr made a famous speech that is known as the "I have a Dream" speech.
A dream can be defined as a strong desired goal or purpose that a person has. Many people have a dream that they want to accomplish in life, but never get the chance to do it. People are either too busy with work, a family, or they do not have the money to start their dream. Today people see others accomplish their dreams all the time on TV shows like The Voice, Master Chef, and American Idol. The novel Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck shows that during the Great Depression dreams were desired, but very hard to attain.
What does it mean to dream? Well, I believe dreams will always remain a mystery of phenomenons that science will never be able to explain. However, we can interpret our dreams in many different aspects. Philosophers, such as Alan Watts, interpret dreams in an interesting way, such as it being an adventure (The Dream of Life). From this, I’d like to think of dreams as adventures for our minds; we’re subconsciously wandering to a new adventure every time we decide to rest our eyes.
Can you remember the last dream you had? Maybe you could fly or were falling down an endless dark tunnel. Perhaps you were awakened by a horrific dream in the middle of the night. They are usually accompanied by muscle spasms and twitches of the entire body. Although these dreams occur while we are falling asleep, they interpret a completely different meaning.
Sleep paralysis is when, during awakening or falling asleep, a person is aware but unable to move.[1][2] During an episode, one may hear, feel, or see things that are not there.[1] It often results in fear.[1] Episodes generally last less than a couple of minutes.[2]
William A. Ward once said, “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it”. If only this were always true; living would be so simple and easy. The idea behind a dream is that if an individual is ambitious and determined, he/she has a fair chance of fulfilling their goal, and the happiness that comes with it.
