The Testing
Is the key to survival letting go of trust and thinking of everyone as the enemy? Well, according to Cia Vale, it is. Cia Vale is the main character in Joelle Charbonneau’s, science fiction dystopian thriller, The Testing. In the now destroyed world from the Seven Stages of War the leaders must prepare for the future using a system called The Testing. It’s sole purpose is to gather the strongest and most intelligent teenagers who will be the next leaders of the world. I believe that with survival comes a trust you need, but only from the right person. While trust can be dangerous at times, it is a necessary thing, but from the wrong person it can be fatal.
Throughout the four phases of The Testing Cia Vale is confronted with choices that could end her life. The choices that include trusting people she doesn 't even know. The setting of the

Judas, one of the twelve apostles, betrayed Jesus by kissing Him on the cheek. It lets people know Jesus’ true identity and this led to Christ’s crucifixion. This made Judas, one of the most well known traitors. Trusting for survival is everywhere in our world. I’d like to think if Judas hadn’t betrayed Jesus things might have been different or on the fictitious side, if Cia didn’t trust Will. If we as humans can weed out the people who aren’t trustworthy, on a small and large scale, there won’t be as much conflict, but if we fail to do this then hostility will still be at ease worldwide. Friends betraying others in junior high are major issus and resolving the issue as a whole is highly unlikely, but if we separated those we could trust with those we can’t it would save us all the headache. So, is letting go of trust the key to survival? After reading this book I believe trust is still something that is appreciated from the right people, but from the wrong people, the results can be
If trust exists, there would be no need to impose harsh punishments or to station troops to supervise the people. Although this debater is most likely from the elite social class, the fact that they are arguing
This quote shows that Dick is longing to forget about the murders and move on with his life. Capote uses words like " Why the hell couldn't Perry shut up" and "He was Annoyed.. Annoyed as hell" to show Dick his antagonistic attitude towards Perry's level of concern. Though he secretly feels guilty about what happened, he wishes that Perry would stop bringing it up since that makes it harder for him to forget about the horrific event. With this quote Capote's is trying to reveal that Dick thought of Perry as paranoid and over dramatic.
We all know many people in the world, some of who we trust, other who we don’t. However, for the people we do trust, it is imperative that they trust us as well, as otherwise, we cannot truly trust them. We can make other trust us not only by trusting them, but by being loyal to them. Similarly, in my book, Book Thief by Markus Suzak, the author uses exposition to not only introduce the readers to the characters, but also develop the theme of the story which is during the duality of change, it’s important to stay loyal to those you trust.
Judas betrayed everything that he believed in for only thirty pieces of
The Testing is a dystopian fiction novel written by Joelle Charbonneau. In the book, Cia, a girl growing up in the Five Lakes colony, is sent to the testing. The testing is a series of exams, ranging from pen and paper to a full on Hunger Games style trek. Cia and several individuals from other colonies are sent to compete. She passes the first few tests relatively easily, but in the fourth test she is sent to complete a several hundred mile long journey in abandoned North America.
She remains calm in order to gain the trust of Hale, and in an attempt to reach her ulterior goal of returning the town back to its orderly and tranquil past. Often times trust is one of the fundamental bases to a functioning society. During the Red Scare in America, few individuals trusted one another, and the country as a whole erupted into chaos, but over time, Americans began to trust one another again, illustrating how trust can bring a frantic society back to
What is being loyal to someone, how can it be seen? Why is it that when one is betrayed, that is all that they think about night and day? The truth is loyalty cannot be seen but only felt between people who have faith within one another. As for betrayal, it can affect one so severely that it cannot leave their mind, especially if a loved one has caused it. In “Choices” by Susan Kerslake and “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury, the authors suggest that a person can change based solely on their needs, and question their ability to stay loyal or betray.
Why Judas betrayed Jesus? Jesus spent about 3 years to influence and teach Judas, Jesus also gave several chances to him, but he still betray Jesus. Although I can not be absolutely sure that why Judas betrayed Jesus, but some things can be certain. First, Judas was chosen as one of the twelve disciples, but the evidence of the New Testament all points to Judas that he never believed Jesus is son of the God, he is even not sure that Jesus is the Messiah; even he followed Jesus for three years and seen all the miracles that Jesus had made.
Trust being the most important of these elements, but trust like respect cannot be demanded; it had to be earned. (Pullen and Mathias, 2010). Throughout this activity, I have been able to put
Telling the truth is considered a desirable trait in the twenty first century, while in older times, telling a lie was unimaginable. The reason for trust issues today is caused by the excessive lying committed. Lying is the catalyst to horrible occurrences, even though society acts as if lying is
Trust is very important in relationships. It is the basis for relationships. It influences what you think about others. When just beginning a relationship there is a lot of initial trust. In The Great Gatsby the beginning tells of Gatsby, and how he is shrouded in mystery and gossip.
Setting Analysis: The Most Dangerous Game Can you imagine reading a story without a setting? Lucky for you, you do not have to imagine because it doesn’t exist. Every story happens somewhere at some time. Therefore, the setting of a story is very important to help with the plot of a story. In order to set a setting, you must add several details to help aid the reader to better comprehend the story.
Trust is what makes the world go round. Without trust, people wouldn’t know how to live. Sometimes trust can cause a person’s downfall. In Macbeth, trust fools plenty of citizens in Scotland. Although some people may become skeptical too quickly, people should be careful who they trust because people can have bad intentions and betray each other no matter what.
The setting shapes the mood and tone of a story and has a great affect on what happens in a story. The setting influences the events that take place, how the characters interact and even how they behave. Settings show where and how the character lives, what they do, and what they value. Characters have a relationship with the setting just as much as they do with other characters in the story. This is seen in the effects the setting has on the development of the Character Elisa in the story “The Chrysanthemums.”
Isaac Watts once said, "Learning to trust is one of life's most difficult tasks. " Trust plays a significant role in The Hobbit because the dwarves and Bilbo have to learn to trust each other on the quest, the dwarves have to trust Gandalf, and Beorn has to trust Gandalf. When the dwarves found out that Bilbo was going to be their burglar they were skeptical.
