The American Revolution was one of the biggest events in our history. Without the Revolution, our country would not be what it is today. The Revolution lasted from 1775-1781. Many events contributed to the Revolution, but there were three main causes for the American Revolution. The causes were: The Boston Tea Party, the Intolerable Acts and the Declaration of Independence. This all started because of the taxes, unfair laws and the British Parliament had too much power. The first cause was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773. The British were taxing the colonists on tea. Even though the tax wasn’t very expensive, the tax went to the British and did not help the colonists. When the colonists found out they protested. Consequently, they protested by dumping 340 tea chests into Boston Harbor. The amount of tea ruined was about 1 million of today's dollars worth. The British punished the colonists with the Boston Harbor Act. The act made the colonists pay for the tea they ruined. This led the colonists closer to war because the colonists realized they had power against the British. …show more content…

The three most hated acts were the Boston Port bill, The second Quartering Act and the Quebec Act. The Boston Port Bill was a law that closed the port to trade ships. The second most hated act, The second Quartering Act forced colonists to house British soldiers and feed them. Finally, the third most hated act was the Quebec Act.
