In the book, Warriors Don’t Cry, Melba Pattillo Beals brought significant events that are significantly influenced her and the other characters. There are two factors that I feel have significantly influenced Melba and other characters in the book, such as family and community support and racial politics. Family and community support have significantly influenced Melba because in her family, Melba got support from her Grandma India and Mother Lois. Even though Grandma India is always strict to Melba, Grandma India showed her attention towards Melba. As an example, “You’re staying home, baby …

The Natives, however, had the upper hand, with their knowledge of the land, they could strategically place themselves so that the cavalrymen could not begin to predict what awaited them in the valley. The General marched his troops into the valley confidently, not anticipating the battle they had submerged themselves in. Five companies, led by Custer, marched into battle, yet none returned. This was a remarkable victory for the northern tribes. The U.S had lost nearly 270 men, including Custer himself.
The Last of the Mohicans is written by James Fenimore Cooper, a famous Americans novelist during 1800’s. The setting of the book takes place during the French and Indian War or the Seven’s Years War which happened in 1754 to 1763. This war was comprised of the French and its Native Americans allies like the Algonquin’s and the British with their Native Americans allies such as the Iroquois Confederacy. The French and Indian War was fought in North America, involving the 13 colonies, who gained an abundant amount of profit from supplying not only the British with weapons but the French as well. The victor of the war was the British but the lives lost from the Native Americans allies were much higher than that of the Europeans.
The French and Indian war was one of many wars between France and Great Britain. The wars started in the early 1600s but the French and Indian war didn’t start until 1754 and then seven years later it ended in 1763. The French and Indian war took place because the French and Great Britain wanted to expand their North American land West of the Appalachian mountains, also known as the Ohio territory. They also wanted the Ohio Territory because they wanted to trade with the North American Indians. The war took place in a lot of different locations around the world like Europe, India, and North America.
The French-Indian War of 1754-1763 resulted in political, ideological, and economic alterations within Britain and its American colonies. The French and Indian War, also referred to as The Seven Years War, began with British and French conflicts across the Ohio River Valley, as both nations wanted to claim the land for themselves. The first blood of the French-Indian War began with multiple British failures, including Washington’s dreadful defeat at Fort Necessity and General Braddock’s failed attempt at conquering Fort Duquesne, in which he died along with two-thirds of his army (Document C). The British would, however, gain momentum in 1759 with multiple victories, including their most significant triumph, Quebec.
