Roosevelt had long given serious thought to the major of social and military issue facing the nation. When he was working with President McKinley, he was the secretary of the navy. Teddy believed that a powerful Navy have always regarded as our proper and natural means of defense; and it has always been of defense that we have thought, never of aggression or of conquest. But who shall tell us now what sort of Navy to build? We shall take leave to be strong upon the seas, in the future as in the past; and there will be no thought of offense or provocation in that.

In fact, it is safe to say that the high level of respect and influence that the office has today is because of Roosevelt. Through the force of his personality and aggressive executive action, Roosevelt was able to make the president the center of American politics. He believed that as president, that the government he maintained, should serve as an agent of improvement for the people.

During his presidency Roosevelt fought towards improving the lives of all Americans, especially those in the working class with poor living and working conditions. Theodore Roosevelt did not only plan to help Americans during his presidency, but instead of America and its future. By setting aside land to preserve the natural landscape of America and preventing giant businesses from controlling the country’s economy, Roosevelt modified the U.S. government. The federal government took great change during Roosevelt’s presidency especially through land conservation and trusts.

When you think of president Theodore Roosevelt some things that usually come to mind are; big stick ideology, and that he was a dedicated conservationist. I chose Theodore Roosevelt not only because his desire to strengthen Americas economic system, but he also believed in political justice and a fair society for the people. Theodore Roosevelt sought to prosecute business monopolies, and by using the Sherman Antitrust Act, he did just that. The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 was the first Federal Act that outlawed prohibit trust. A trust is when stockholders from several different companies transfer their shares into a single set of depositories.

I think that franklin D Roosevelt was scared and knew the United States were scared and he needed to put hope into America’s heart.
