This is the raw, intense story of The Hunger Games and my conclusion on it. This story is written by Susanne Collins, this story is about 12 districts who are all ruled by the Capitol, the capitol has many different ways of punishing these districts. One of the many ways the capitol punishes these districts is by having them select two tributes from each district male and female to fight to the death until there is one winner in an event named The Hunger Games. This is stated on page 14,“I hug her, because I know these next few hours will be terrible for her. Her first reaping.”The person who states these sentences is our main character Katniss, she is explaining why her sister Prim is so scared of the reaping, they are preparing themselves for the reaping ceremony where there will be names drawn for the Hunger Games. This quote helps prove that the control the capitol has over the people within this population is causing young Prim to be scared to have the chance of being picked to enter the games. This is stated on page 148. “Sixty seconds. That’s how long we’re required to stand on our metal circles before the minute is up, and landmines blow your legs off.” Within this part of the book she is preparing herself for the games and is explaining to the audience what is about to happen and what her surroundings look like. This sentence statement helps prove my first sentence because she is taking it all in minutes before the countdown starts. In the end, in this part of the story Katniss must focus and take everything in before the games actually begin and prepare herself for what is about to come her
