Thomas Jefferson: A New Political Era

•“She was not even listening. She had gotten tired of listening. She knew, as we all knew, what the outcome would be. A white man had been killed during a robbery, and thought two of the robbers had been killed on the spot, one had been captured, and he, too, would have to die” (4). This quote is important because it allows me to understand that Jefferson has to die because he was the only person in the liquor store and was a black man.

Chapter 9 The Jefferson Era was between 1800 and 1816. It started with The Federalist and Republican Parties fighting an election campaign in 1800. Federalists supported President Adams and Charles Pinckney for vice president. Republicans nominated Thomas Jefferson for president and Aaron Burr as his running mate.

When a president enters office, he often comes with a long list of demands and changes he plans on making for the nation that the man before him did not accomplish. The changes each president has made assisted the forever-growing nation, in hope of benefiting all of the population living within it. Thomas Jefferson, is no different when it comes to wanting to aid the United States, in fact he dedicated most of his life to fighting for what he believed in. Jefferson earned the nickname “The Apostle of Democracy” due to him introducing democracy to the nation (Inside Gov). During the early years of America, there were various different forms of the American Republic especially in between Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson.

Thanks to Thomas Jefferson, America would become a thriving nation of small independent farmers, a prominent Manufacturer in world trade, and becoming the richest and most powerful nation in the world of the nineteenth century. He unified himself with the newly formed political party, to be known as the Republican Party, or better known as the Democratic-Republican Party. Jefferson had a very clear vision of where he wanted to steer the newly formed nation, which often times contradicted many of Alexander Hamilton ideas of government.

With Thomas Jefferson’s presidency coming to an end, future candidates must act quick. If they were ever going to run for President, they must surely plan ahead. James Madison, a Democratic-Republican, believes that this may be his chance to run for President. Already being elected for Secretary of State, he has more experience in elections than his opposers. The candidate he ended up going against was Charles Pinckney, a Federalist.

Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. He ran against John Adams twice. The first time, he came in second, making him vice president. He then ran against him in the election of 1800, which had turned into a battle of Federalist and Democratic Republicans. He had defeated Adams due to a flaw in the electrical system.

Many people believe that Thomas Jefferson is a powerful individual who helped form our country, and was a great leader through his presidential career. He made the best out of difficult situations, when he knew the complete situation had to remain unsolved, and he also wrote the Declaration of Independence for the help of our country. On the other hand, it can also be debated that Thomas Jefferson is a hypocritic man that nearly destroyed our military,

Throughout history, stories have been shared and told about great philosophers, Enlightenment thinkers, and other historians. Among the many thinkers is a historian named, Thomas Jefferson. Through his influences and thoughts on the enlightenment period, and his government effect, he has arisen from his odd background, from a farmer, to a great historian.

Thomas Jefferson was a multi-layered person whose commitments to the American Revolution were not restricted to his initiative and political accomplishments alone. His thoughts and vision for a popularity based and free society were urgent in molding the direction of American history and improvement of the US. Jefferson's powerful works and addresses gave the philosophical system to the American Insurgency and laid the basis for the standards of American majority rule government that we know today. His confidence in the force of training and his support for a government funded schooling system was likewise instrumental in significantly shaping American culture and guaranteeing that residents had the devices to partake completely in the majority

There have been debates on which president was the strongest. The top three would be President Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson. Jefferson is the best because. Jefferson made the declaration of Independance, contributed to the expansion of the country, and had a lot of other accomplishments.

Thomas Jefferson took the presidential vow of office in March 1801, in which he promised to give back and reward the "uncorrupted republicanism" that encouraged the Revolutionary period. He called his victory the "Upset of 1800," accepting that his win meant that political and social change could happen in the new country without falling back on cruelty or violence. The decision demonstrated that power could calmly interchange starting with one assembly, the Federalists, then the next, the Democratic-Republicans. The swapping of political gatherings represented a defining moment in American legislative issues.

Thomas Jefferson is widely idealized as a great American hero. The truth is that Thomas Jefferson was both revered and reviled with equal measure. This progressive man is commonly remembered as the man who wrote the Declaration of Independence. Although he called slavery an abomination, Jefferson was a slave owner. He also fathered children through an affair with one of his slaves.

The election of 1800, being the first election where both parties ran candidates and actually campaigned, featured Thomas Jefferson, the Republican, against John Adams, the Federalist. With Jefferson coming out victorious, his election into presidency showed that Americans wanted more democratic politics where common people were free to express their opinion. However, Jefferson’s campaign of liberty was a bit questionable because of its limitations. While Jefferson campaigned for liberty, only a fraction of the men were able to vote and absolutely no liberty was offered to the slaves. Though he wanted to foster freedom, Jefferson owned slaves of his own and took land from the Indians.

Of Thomas Jefferson’s triumphs, his advancement of personal rights has had the greatest effect on modern day America. Without his enlightenment ideas and push for the Bill of Rights, the United States would not be the same amazing country that exists today. God bless

He was also a Founding Father and a principal author of the Declaration of Independence. He was a true patriot and a great leader in the American revolution. Jefferson also admired the Greeks and Romans for their values of liberty, patriotism and virtue. When Rome first invented their government it was led by senators and consuls who were elected by the citizens of Rome.
